    Dear IL's,

I have been suffering migraine headache's since a child. I had met a neurologist some years back who had put me on some pain killers which I avoided most of the time. Ever since I am pregnant , seems like Migraines have taken a toll. I had battled Nausea for first few months n now when Nausea is settling I have migraine attacks almost once in every week. When I checked with my Doctor she asked me to take Tylenol and go to sleep. Try taking coffee . I don't think taking Tylenol often is a good idea.
I consulted one more Doctor and she suggested to
    1. Drink barley water.
    2. Take hot tub, soak with 2-5 drops of lavender oil in it. Take once a day for 20 mins. Could use bath salts too.

I tried these and they aren't much helpful.
Any of you have tried anything with migraine attacks in pregnancy that has helped?

Hi Archana congrats on your pregnancy. Many things trigger migraine. If you find the cause then you can avoid the problem. Sleeplessness, indigestion, constipation and for few jarring sounds can trigger migraines.

Soaked badams(8 to 10. Soak it for 10to 12hours), lemon juice first thing in the morning daily(don't add sugar, add only salt), apple and good sleep helps. Also try to avoid outside food. I think these things can be done even during pregnancy.

Migraine cannot be cured but frequency can be reduced.

@Archanaanchan migraine attacks might increase with lack of sleep and tiredness.
    1) drink warm water
    2) try tusli , chamomile, cardamom, ginger tea, (no milk) try other flavors too.
    3) 5 min meditation
    4) listen to soothe music of flute or any soft instrumental music
    5) avoid triggers find what are they.
When I was pregnant, I had migraine lasted 5 days too. Coffee helps temporarily... Don't take much coffee
    Take care.

    Thank you @stayblessed !
I mostly think its because of sleep. And since you mentioned it too I must try sleeping well and check if the condition improves. I will keep you posted . Thanks for suggesting.

@Vedhavalli Sorry that you had to struggle with migraines for 5 long days. The worst part is the pain and not able to eat well. And often listening from people to enjoy pregnancy  I have suffered mostly for a day or two at a stretch ! But since I cant eat well those days I feel extremely bad ! I feel sensitive to pain as well . If not for headache I am all ok. !

I used to get headaches and heartburn in my last trimester. I think it is normal to get little uncomfortable at times during the course of pregnancy. Happy that u r doing well . take care.
