Seeing some crazy comments by a few elderly men (on another forum), to a snippet that eulogised a "Saree Pallu," I had retorted with this spontaneous poem. Since the flavour of the season happens to be a Saree, I have shared it with you. Hope you like it! A Humble Saree Pallu You spoke of a humble saree pallu; A pallu that covered the bosoms of maidens of yore, A pallu that cleaned the leaky noses without a care, A pallu that gave birth to many a lore, A pallu that shielded you from many a lusty stare, A pallu that hid the smells of your heart’s desire, A pallu that covered up many a folly you didn't dare, But did you notice.....? Just the mention of a pallu was enough to draw carnal desires Of men, whom you revered as harmless family heads. Trying in vain, to boast of their lusty conquests, Boldly baring the dirty fangs of unholy desires, And carelessly discarding the facade of wisdom cultivated over the years! Hmm...! All because you spoke of a humble pallu? ***END*** Emojis were taken from the internet for representation purposes only.
@GeetaKashyap Haha! A true depiction of our society's attitude and it is awkward when men refuse to think beyond physical aspect of a woman.
I agree with you totally, @Frangipani. It shocks when the holy mask falls off revealing the true monkey minds behind!
Thank you @Mistt and @yellowmango for the likes. It would have been nicer had you shared your thoughts on this subject.
Ahem.... Such a matured and wonderful write up.... brings back memories of my childhood.... my mother’s saree pallu was the hanky for my running noses, napkin for my wet hands, wet pads for my fever, wiping my tears off and making me smile again..... I am unable to think beyond my childhood, by the mention of saree pallu.... Wish i was a child again....
The pallu and the dupatta are the prisons that have been handed to us to stay within the laxman rekhas. It is us women who are gracious enough to find beauty and grace in the them .
Nandu, Your words echo the exact sentiments of my fellow blogger when she wrote about the saree pallu but...men being men...they got stuck with the word pallu and a part of the world behind it!
@yellowmango, I am happy to see your feedback and I am very happy that I requested a feedback keeping my pride aside. As a result, I am getting to read your wonderful words and thoughts! Thanks, dear.
