She was born with a silver spoon. An only child to a village head - similar to the "Jamindar" in South Indian movies.
So much wealth, so much pride, and so many people to serve.
She was the queen of the house. And like any conservative family, her family too believed that their pride lies in the character of this little girl.

When she was a teen, she had an infatuation with one of her father's employee. A newly appointed driver from a different community.
Her teen hormones failed to understand the troubles associated with her infatuation back then. As a result, she eloped with him the day her mom got to know their affair.

Within months after eloping with this man, she understood the most toughest lessons of life.
The man never loved her, rather he tried to use her for money. He was already married twice, and living with his second wife. He had many children already.
His family obviously did not have any sympathy for this little girl, who eloped with him by leaving all her wonderful life behind.
Even before they tied the knot, she had to leave his home after a heated confrontation with him & his family.
That time, she didn't have any knowledge about the tiny bean in her little tummy :(

She tried going back to her village, believing that her loving parents can never hate her. But her destiny played otherwise.
She learnt at the village gate itself, that her dad- the village head had died instantly after her departure, and the village is still mourning for his death.
She knew that her dad's relatives would never allow her to step in to her home; thus silently left the place.

Having no place to go to, this young girl decided to commit suicide by jumping into a river near her village.
But her destiny had other plans for her.
She was rescued by a middle aged man - who was a widower.
This man worked in a cemetery nearby, and had a small home of his own. He was childless; hence lived with his elderly mom.
He saved this young girl from death, and took her home for treatments.
Soon, this young girl found a family at this man's place.

Initially, they started their relationship like a father & daughter. But soon, this young girl gave birth to a beautiful angel - who called this man "appa/Dad". For the society, they were yet another married couple.
No one, except this couple know the depth of their relationship though. But everyone knew the greatness of their parenthood for their little angel.

Their child grew up to be a very intelligent student in the class - Thanks to her step father's efforts to give her better education despite of his limitations.

Knowing this child's intelligence, and her family's poverty level, the head mistress of her School decided to help this child to progress in her studies.
She is a known as a caring mother figure to all the children in her School. She took this child to her city home, to give her better educational facilities. This girl, naturally became a child to this childless headmistress.

After a decade or so, this young girl became a graduate, and secured a professional post with the Government. Her step dad eventually died, and her mom moved in with her to her city home.

A couple of years later, both the mom and DD had the courage to return to their native village to see how their family respond to them.
Surprisingly, their old mother (grand mother) has been awaiting for her daughter's return since she left her palace. All she had was tears and joys to share with her DD.
Now that, she is more than happy to see her grand DD as a high professional in the Government sector.
There was no hatred, no discrimination, but only love & so much wealth to share.

The grand daughter is one of our Government focal point, who works closely with us. She shares a beautiful relationship with me personally as well.
She is now married, and has 2 beautiful kids too.

Yesterday, we happened to visit their village during our long weekend trips, and were amazed at the hospitality they showed in that village.

When I looked at the happy and peaceful face of my colleague's mom, I got reminded of the very famous verse...."This too shall pass".
No matter how bad our situation may be... have faith, and move on... This too shall pass.

Thanks everyone for your likes, and comments here.
I too felt very easy and peaceful looking at her mother's face after everything she has gone through in her life.
The magic is that my colleague is in her 30s, and her mom is in her 40s. Only 17 years of gap between the mom and the DD. Both look like sisters only.
My colleague is much relieved that her mom and grand-mom are actively involved in taking care of her little kids, while she focuses in her career and higher studies peacefully while staying in the same home.

:hello:In all such cases passage of time annuls the hatred and kith and kin circle ignores it; at least the next generation least perturbed or bothered about the elopement et al. Life goes on for the bravest who encounter the situation it its countenance. A lady of 16 years illegally married a priest who expired within few days of marriage. the village seniors wanted as per extant practice tonsure her but the brave girl ran away from home and landed in Periar's school at erode studied upto "eslc" with music her special subject. besides tailoring and bit of English and tamil literature, she got employed with Chennai corporation school and in a span of less than a decade become headmistress and remarried a fellow teacher. luck favours bravest in life.
    Regards.

That is a story with a happy ending. I could not help wonder what the reception would have been if she had gone when she was deserted by the 'husband' and his family. Today they are successful and as they say, nothing succeeds like success.
