Every one is going to quit this life one day, leaving all our desires, music, love and laughter.
I am very often reminded of autumn, when leaves fall to the ground to form a
multicoloured carpet. There is a pain combined with pleasure.
Are we having a moral science class during autumn?
the leaves falling like our years, the flowers fading like our hours, the clouds fleeting like our illusions, the light diminishing like our intelligence, --all bear secret relations to our destinies.
    There is a lesson on 'sacrifice'.Yes, here the light gets defeated by darkness;
Ancient scriptures say that those who long for light must face the inner darkness and overpower the same.
We can't but be reminded of Bhaja Govindam of Shankaracharya
    PUNARAPI JANANAM PUNARAPI MARANAM
    PUNARAPI JANANEE- JATARE SAYANAM
    IHA SAMSAARE BAHU-DUSTAARE
    KRIPAYAA(A)PAARE PAAHI MURARE

Born again, dying again, sleeping once again in a mother's belly - here in this endless ocean of samsara (the world), which is difficult to cross, protect me by your grace, O Murari.

    PUNARAPI RAJANI PUNARAPI DIVASAH
    PUNARAPI PAKSAH PUNARAPI MASAH
    PUNARAPYAYANAM PUNIRAPI VARSAM
    TADAPI NA MUNCATYASAMARSAM.

Another night, another day, another two weeks, another month, another half a year, and another year (all pass by), yet the passion of desire does not leave you.
We need not know either Sanskrit or BhajaGovindam.Nature stands before you and kindles the awakening facts.

Mother Nature seems to convey how easy, how healthy, and how beautiful letting go can be that is leaving our own desires. Does it symbolize the end of misery and beginning of hope?Does it convey that
the thing which is dead will come back alive again?
I read about an imaginary conversation with a falling leaf.

"Dear leaf, ,are you frightened because all the leaves are falling and you are also going to fall?
    The leaf replied
“No. During the whole spring and summer I was completely
alive. I worked sincerely to store food in me and give total nourishment to the tree.
Don't think that by discolouration my purpose of life is limited."

" I shall go back to the soil and continue
to nourish the tree. As I leave this
branch and float to the ground, I will wave to the tree and
say Good bye to come back again."
The wind blew, the leaf fell down.It floated dancing and dancing and saw above.
A green leaf was already there on the branch. The leaf was so happy to see its own form
    again on the tree.
We bow before this little leaf.
What a great philosophy the tiny leaf has conveyed!
    We hear M. S. singing
    " punarapi Jananam punarapi Maranam:

:hello:One phrase comes to mind about the contents of this thread - par excellence.
It is evening or dusk and we think of life as nothing but a journey being packed with experience. During storm the clay-pebble protects the leaf by sitting over it and when it rains the leaf saves it by covering it each unmindful of self being affected and enjoy the moment of sacrifice!
Thanks and Regards. God Bless Us All.

    Dear Smt. Jayasala:

What a rich wisdom you conveyed through this snippet. Here is what I said to the children to meditate in Bala Vikas class:

“You are sitting quietly in a garden that is full of flowers with different colors. They are blossoming in the rays of sunlight that comes down to earth. The trees and plants are shaking gently as though they were appreciating the rain they have experienced a few minutes back, welcoming the wind that is blowing towards them and enjoying the rays of the sun. The flowers of today are opening up as though they are smiling after seeing the colors of the rainbows up in the sky. The flowers of yesterday are facing down as though they have been humbled by the opportunity given to them to Blossom and the flowers of tomorrow are keeping their pedals closed as though they are worshiping God for their opportunity. The grass on the ground is sacrificing itself to the hunger of the animals which are walking all over it. The whole atmosphere is serene and you are wondering how every living being are appreciating each other and live in peace and harmony with reality. You are thinking that peace is not obtained by your free will from outside but by humbly surrendering to the Will of God inside and accepting the reality.”

We live in the illusion of remaining in the same shape and form forever. We regret and cry when people leave us as though we are permanent here in this beautiful planet. Being born, growing as a child, marrying the spouse, bearing the child, raising a child, watching them get married, playing with grandchildren, leaving the world are all one portion of what we call us life. Each session is an experience that helps us go to the next stage of life. Cutting the ties that binds us is hard. Removing the husk in the seed to prevent sprouting is difficult. Until we achieve this, we will be born again and again. When the film of our life runs in our mind when we were about to leave displays the progress we have made in this life.

How do we manifest our spiritual essence? I will go back to the words of wisdom, "I am yours", "You are mine" and "You and I are one".

"I am yours" - Recognize & remove bad qualities - Stay connected with the Lord - Appreciate grace and pray for more - To become qualified to be His.

"You are mine" - "Be possessive of the Lord" - "Listen in silence" - "Claim the Lord's qualities - To be loved by the Lord

"You and I are one" - "Seek Truth" - "Be Aware" - "Achieve Bliss" - To become one with the Lord.

These are the steps I am planning to explain as steps move from dualism to non-dualism in my presentation over the next few weeks to the set of spiritual seekers.

    Dear Shri Thyagarajan,

Thank you very much for the response. Each and every aspect of nature teaches us some great lesson. In our school days we had Bhartruhari's neethi shataka classes which were of immeasurable value.Today's students are deprived of the opportunity.

    Dear Viswa,

    Dear Viswa,
Thank you very much for the beautiful response. You have added much more value to my snippet.Definitely children need such wonderful lessons. There was a big lesson in conversation form in sanskrit in our 8th Standard. We were asked to enact the role of mountain, hill, river, rivulet, ocean, trees, shrubs, grass, cloud, buds, flowers and fruits and wind-each living for others. Those impressions we had in childhood are ever green.Shrimat Bhagavatham speaks of 24 Gurus inclusive of tiny creatures like wasp, honey bee, hunter, deer, a prostitute woman among others. There is a detailed analysis of why Dattatreya considers them as gurus.
When we hear of something described as 'it is after all a mere creature' i never hesitate to quote this chapter.

I am very much proud of you.It is so very nice of you imparting such valuable lessons to children in Balavikas classes. My daughter takes such classes in Singapore.
    We need such awakening everywhere.
World is not so very bad as we imagine. There are good hearted personalities like Viswa who strain their every nerve to infuse values in kids, which are the real assets of every nation.Wish you all the best,Viswa.

Loved that imaginary conversation. True, one just has to look around to understand life. Unfortunately, thanks to the rat-race we are involved in, we seem to have lost that connect with Nature and only when we are forcefully grounded do we open our eyes and start noticing again and then the wonder strikes again, as powerfully as when we were kids.

"What is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare".

Time we realise the need to have a sensible balance in our working-personal lives.

Dear Jeeves, nature teaches various lessons , even to those who don't believe in karma theory and reincarnation.
