I got my MSc and three kids during the studying period. Here some tricks that can be useful:
    - Outsource the household chores you can - get weekly cleaner (if possible), no cooking on weekdays (cook in bulk on weekends and keep in freezer, buy partly ready made food), put DH grocery shopping with a long list
    - Enough of attention to the little - when you pick him/her up from daycare it is tempting to start doing dinner etc. I learned from a friend that better first to spend half an hour with the little, reading books, lap time, relaxing on the bed. When the kid has been showered with the attention she will leave you alone so you can heat up the dinner or do other things
    - Use early mornings, I used to get up 4-5 and study while everyone was sleeping
    - when baby napping hit the books, no household chores allowed when little one sleeping, leave the dishes and everything (you can do those when she is awake)

    Hi to all,

I am back here to IL to find this very post and say..... guess what!!

I have completed my PhD and had my convocation last week!!:cheer:..

I was kind of searching this post and mentally thanking you all for pushing me through the initial phase! Now I understand what @nuss and @Gauri03 said,

is it possible to do a PhD with kids - yes!
    is it easy - no!

I did go through a lot of ups and a lot of downs, sometimes being idle for weeks together not knowing what to do. learning new stuff, juggling things as it comes, and I still can't believe that its over..

Once again, a million heartfelt thanks to you for boosting my spirit that we can achieve.

P/S: And the colleagues who were full time students and single - only 2 of them graduated with me. I cannot believe how I found more time than them.. I just consider myself lucky.. on cloud nine:number_one:
