    @beautifullife30 One thing I wanted to point out - It is not 'Draupadi Vastrabhararam' (which roughly translates to adornment by cloth) but Draupadi Vastra haranam or Draupadi Vastrapaharanam (Which refers to draupadi's disrobing).

    We just had an illuminating discussion on this subject!

    Refer here : Pensée: E & G Chatter

    You will have to skip and hop over posts. The discussion continues for a few pages but is definitely worth the trouble!

    @Gauri03 Thanks. I felt I must point this out because OP has specifically used the term 'Vastrabharanam' not 'Vastrabhaharanam' (as discussed in the pensee thread).

    Read more! Dr S gave a rather neat explanation about that! OP's usage is correct as far as I understood.

    @gauri30 I am pretty sure about this having studied sanskrit and speaking 3 south indian languages. VASTRABHARANAM is incorrect - at best a corruption of the word vastraharanam. Even tamilians say vastra-haranam or vastrapa-haranam.. not silencing HA or replacing with bha. can u point me to the specific post of DrS.

    Vastrabharanam = Vastra =clothes + Abharanam =jewelery/accessories, so Vastrabharanam means adorning/wearing/putting on/enhancing etc.

    Vastraharanam= Vastra =clothes + Haranam =taking away forcibly, so Vastraharanam means disrobing forcibly.

    Errr. With all due respect, why is the original post "mature with proper acknowledgements"?
    Agreed, I'm not a scholar and probably am intellectually inferior. At least, I'm not going on about the Agnipareeksha without acknowledging that the validity of the chapters in question. Hasn't there been debates about that itself in the past?
    Sorry Soka, but the OP hasn't stated anything new or original or even historically validated.
    And if a poster is immature feel free to add to your "ignore" list. No need to ack.

    Hey, he meant me! : ) He was answering my post. He's given me far worse dressing downs on PM. :oops: I welcome his criticism. Makes me think about what I say and how. I'm positive Dr S never meant to insinuate otherwise.

    Oops, that was a general comment - stateless! :roflmao:
    Not referring to OP, just replying to Gauri - scientist to scientist! Authority is inimical to the spirit of science, but then again if someone did something that you built on, not attributing credit is not done either and so on.
