    Hello All,

My son is about 14 months and due for his 1 yr shots. I have read mixed opinions about vaccines, so want to make a more informed decision. I understand if we don’t give him vaccines & if he gets any illness ( for which there is a vaccine), symptoms can be severe. But the severe symptoms only occur rarely.
We didn’t get any shots. We did get measles etc but all went ok.

It is true that cases of Autism etc have increased last few years. If it not because of vaccines, are there other genuine reasons for it ?

Also is there enough data available to prove that these illnesses are occurring more in non-vaccinated kids ?. Did you opted not to vaccinate and faced any issues ?

Any suggestions if splitting the vaccines works better ?. Or for how one should delay 1 yr shots

    Thanx

I don' t like vaccines but I did go for all the mandatory ones. I had same concerms when my LO was infant. Going to docs every few months for vaccines and seeing her crying but again if smthing happens and we miss vaccines, we will never be able to be over that guilt so I had all went for all.

Hi.. Vaccines have nothing to do with autism. Autism is not a disease. It is a disorder. It is something related to mind and personality of the child. Please dont confuse autism with vaccines.
I went for all the vaccines suggested by the Doctor for my 2.2 yrs old. As far as I heard, giving vaccines in correct doses with correct duration is totally fine. But some opt for something like a short-cut process, giving all vaccines within a very short duration. That method is not advisible. Also some vaccines should not be given when the baby is sick with fever, cold, etc.

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks to all of you. So looks like I should give him all vaccines, which I agree too.
But does splitting or giving one vaccine at a time works better

If we need to split 1 yr shots doctor is not suggesting how we can split. He is already 14 months and due for his 1 yr shots. Still confused how should we split or should we give him MMR separate than others

    Thanks

    Hi Ladies,

I see MMR and a separate Varicella vaccine is schedule in the same set
Is it ok to give these 3 in one shot ? ( of course with HiB and PCV which are also in the same set)

    Thanks

Dont give two live vaccines (Varicella and MMR) in one day...Keep a gap of minimum of 4 weeks.. I would suggest to give only one live vaccine at the schedule..If you tell me what vaccines you have given so far and what are remaining I would help suggest you a good schedule..
    few Qs:
    what is your sons weight?
Has he been allergic to any shots? or gotten any fever after the shots?
are you stay at home mom?
is your son in daycare or are you planning to ? by what month you plan to put him in daycare?

    Regards,
    Meetu

    Hi Meetu,

Really, thanks a lot for your response. He took all his vaccines upto 6 months & now due for i yr shots. He is due for HiB, PCV, MMR and Varicella. I am not sure about HeP and IPV ( I think he got at 6 mnths). He is 14 months so already we are delayed and I have read risk of seizures etc increase if you wait more

I found this detailed study - Vaccines and Autism. The summary is that a gene mutation MTHFR with combination of environmental stressors are responsible for getting unwanted side effects. Environmental stressor include Vaccines. So there is even a test if a person has this gene mutation but looks like it is uncommon in indians

If we think measles, mumps, rubella ( not sure about it though), we think they are usually mild and rarely any complications. Though on internet it says 30% kids below 5 yrs get complications

His weight is 21 lbs. He never got any side effect from vaccines so far, not even fever or rash. He is totally formula fed. I work but my in-laws permanently live with us. No plans for day care in near future. But we are travelling India in next 2-3 mnths

    Thanks
