Part 4
It was my first day at this new place and I was already getting late. It looked as if past was repeating itself. By the time I reached office asking directions all along my way, I was left with only 10 more minutes to the report time. I saw the lift doors closing right in front of my eyes. I ran as fast as I could shouting "Wait for me." For a second I thought I have lost it and laughed at myself for shouting like a school-going kid. I reached there and stopped the doors from closing thinking that it was empty as no one tried to stop the closing doors but when I turned my head, I saw a man scowling at me. I gave him a "I am sorry" kind of look and was wiping my sweat.

I kept praying that no one should stop the lift as I had very less time left. I kept viewing him from the corner of my eye just to know which floor he will get down. To my surprise he too got down along with me and left muttering something. I didn't wait to ask or hear what it was. I ran to the manager's room and heaved a sigh of relief as there was 5 minutes left. I knocked on the door and entered inside. After all the formalities were done I was shown my seat by a colleague who came to meet the manager at the same time when I was about to leave the room. She introduced herself as Sailaja and asked my name and from where I came. I told her this and then we went to our places chitchatting. Seems like she is going to sit right behind me. She is a jovial and cheerful person. No doubt about it. But would she become my good friend? That was the question which the future will reveal.

The moment I sat down, to my horror I saw the same man whom I met in the lift sitting opposite to me. He gave me a quick look and turned his face to his neighbor and started chatting. I got frustrated by this attitude of his. "What does he think of himself?" I muttered to myself in a low voice and started my work.
