i am not on any particular diet.
occasionally if not frequently i do have these food cravings.
one day, its a sweet, the other day its some noodles, but mostly its for crispy fried food.
a craving once in a while is fine, but when they keep recurring constantly, that sets in a vicious cycle, where u crave, eat, feel guilty and again eat more
so how do u all curb your guilty cravings when they occur frequently?
how do u deal with fried food addictions?
i keep telling myself everything including my weight issues, but then somehow i finally convince myself that this is d last time i am gonna eat junk and end up doing it frequently.:shakehead:

p.s: exercise is not an option in my current schedule. hence i want to target my dietary pattern:thumbup:

Drink lots of water. It will curb your appetite. Don't deprive yourself of any food you love. It will intensify the cravings. Instead of going cold turkey try small incremental changes. Make a deal with yourself. If you crave crispy fried foods, you will allow yourself to indulge but you can only have half the portion you normally eat. If you eat, say 2 samosas, then eat only one. Savor it slowly. Enjoy every bite but stop after you've eaten your allocated portion. Once you get accustomed to the idea of eating less, you can substitute the samosa for a little bit healthier snack like a veggie cutlet. Keep making small changes until you reach a point where you are happy with your diet.

This is something that works for me. I enjoy treats quite often. I simply make it up during the next meal.
Lets say I have Rasmalai for dessert ..I enjoy it without guilt but I know it costs me about 200 calories. My next day lunch will be salad. simple ...nutritious but very low calorie. An office lunch with some creamy pasta will see u having me just some low cal soup for dinner.

When I am good, I am very good. Then come along a string of visits, visitors, holidays; things get out of control and it takes another couple of years to get back.

One solution I can think of is to bake instead of fry. Add fresh chutneys instead of ketchup to taste.

If you love potatoes, well, make a meal of it - boiled or baked with veggies. Treat it as your main meal instead of chappati or rice. Potato is also carb and not exactly a 'vegetable' in the truest sense. The world over, people eat it as the base for a meal. In India, not eating rice/chappati ('fasting') is guaranteed to get you punya. So eat your potatoes and get your punya too! Two in one deal.

Drinking lots of water through out the day kills the carving .......

I prefer not to keep any fried food/ sweets at home.....have fruits or small bites of dark chocolate/jaggery after food takes away the sweet carving.

The idea is not to suppress cravings. Why suppress? I am kind of a person who has some cravings daily basis. But I don't eat outside food so I have to make it to eat it. Almost all the times it is hard to make something really tasty. So I always get my roti sabji and chaas in lunch and some oats dhokla, salad or something easy to make for dinner.

I have not eaten anything junk since a year or so. So I don't crave for these things. No dry snacks in house only murmura for rare days. Even thought of eating junk makes me think of untidiness, processed fats, overuse of salt and sugar so I don't eat it.

My taste buds are changed. I find chocolate too sweet cos I eat fruits as desserts. So its kind of going back to roots. I crave for banana or mango or grapes or guavas. For crunch its cucumber, roti khakhra, peanuts, roasted chana with gur. Some kind of bhel with spicy chutney. This change is hard not impossible. So don't worry, if you want you can change and sorry to say not exercising because of any reason will not help.

My mother always say 'If you eat, you have to do some physical work to reap its benefits".

Avoid buying junk food and storing at home..if that packet of chips is there in your kitchen or that bar of chocolate is there in your fridge you will be tempted to eat it even if you are not hungry..one thing I noticed is that if I eat fried stuff very often I crave for it more often..if I eat it very rarely on occasions the habit doesn't form..filling up the stomach with water, high fibre foods and fruits is the best way to cut down on cravings ..but easier said than done:(:(:(
