    hi Lakshmi,

I think by nature he is left handed, So do not change his dominant hand to right hand..
    as it will affect him,
a friend of mine was a left hander and her parents made her to write on right hand forcefully ..her handwriting even after she grew up was not legible .

my brother in law is a left hander.. he writes with left hand..eats with right hand..may be when your son grows up you can train him to eat with right hand...

    Thanks
    Prabha

    Lakshmy,

My son is a by birth a lefthander. being in a very orthodox joint family, could not allow him to be a lefty..(mainly my fil ) my son had too many confusions in writing, eating.. though he writes using right, he has more strength in his left.he bats with his left...

I regret for not leaving him a lefty..

Yes a natural lefty's brain is different than a righty.

so you leave him as he is.....let him do what others do with their right with his left. no harm yaar.

    Hi Lakshmy,

my 10yrs old daughter is also a lefty.Lefties are more brain sharper than
righties.so dont try to change his habit, you may spoil his handwriting.

    Hi Lakshmy

S it is not advisable to change his habit. I have also read in some magazines that it is not good to do that. Let him be like whatever he is, let him be unique from others. Why do u want to bother about it. As far as eating habits u can ask him to change it to right hand. Otherwise let him be left hander itself.

    Hi Lakshmy ,
There is nothing to worry about this. And there is absolutely no need to force him use his right hand. Being a lefthander myslef I was mostly faced with this question "Didnt your parents try to change it?"
No one else in my mom's nor dad's side is a lefty still me and my sis are lefties. Its only that for some persons the left side of brain is more sharp those become righties and viceversa.I do everythnig with my left hand like eating, cutting veggies ,writing and everything....So there is absolutely no need to worry.

    Hi,

I'm left-handed and reading this thread reminds me of my childhood.
Forced to use right-hand coz no one, NO ONE in my family including all my uncles, aunts, cousins from both sides of my parents(11 bros and sis on both sides) were left handed. Being a girl, made it more difficult. I was constantly taunted for using left-hand, slowed my growth and lowered my confidence. I was teased by friends and neighbors.
Growing in a nuclear family, my parents tried for a while, at last I guess the settled on making me eat my food with my bare right hand. Rest I could do with left hand. During these changes, I was slow in everything. Until 3rd grade I used to be given 3 question papers, one to use a question paper and another to write answers on it directly(objective type) to avoid delays.
Higher primary I remember being embarrassed about being left-handed.
In high-school, my dad brought me a general knowledge book and there was page about why some people are left handed and from that day to this day I enjoy being left-handed. Its more of a conversation piece, a fun way to make friends :). people start talknig about my left-handedness and conversation continues on other topics :)
Now I have a son and he might also be lefthanded(just a yr old) and I know exactly what to do, leave him to discover his strength!
Its just a hand, help your child use right hand where its required. Like during puja, use right hand, offering someone a glass of water, use right hand, taking thirtham in temple, right hand. throwing a ball, use left hand, writing, painting, having fun, use any hand u want.
Please remember mother is a child's strength. If you do not approve his hand choice, he will be unsure too. Be his strength, help him be what he wants to be, without fear or guilt. This is one of the small things that will make him complete, so let nature take its course. Best of luck.

Usually left handers are left brain dominant... No other reason behind that... Leave him as such.. When u try to change his habits he will become very slow.. My aunt forced my sister as she was a left hander before.. But later after thy changed her to right hander, she became very slow as things..
