    My dear Viswa
Isn't it such an irony that the two most important factors that govern human life remain invisible to our eyes? Time and electricity. Both are felt only through their effect in our lives. Time's imprint is seen in all the events that you have described. Though it is not as tangible in its manifestation as electricity, Time is dreaded by us on account of its effect on us.

In the Bhishma Parva, when the two armies stand on the battlefield, ready for war, Vyasa tells Dhritharashtra that all the warriors will kill each other and that the impending massacre is not anybody's personal tragedy but is just the way the world, dictated by time, works. Vyasa says:
"Knowing the changes brought about by Time, do not allow your mind to grieve....Without doubt, o, best of kings, time destroys the world, time creates the world again. In this world nothing exists forever'

As the Present morphs into Past little by little, we cannot help feeling that Future is the Past in the making and the awesome Time oversees the entire phenomenon. We are like insects that fly around the light in the ceiling of a superfast train. The insects do not know that are being ferried to a new place at great speed but the train will eventually take them to the place where it is destined and when the insects fly out, they will be in a totally new place and a new life will start for them. This is what Time is doing to us.

I am enjoying all the feedbacks and your replies to them .There is so much to learn about time. While working I never had time for my hobbies. Now after retirement and after children being settled and abroad I have lot of time after doing my household work. Thanks to my children, my office that I learnt Computer , also thanks to God for making my daughter to tell me about this wonderful site that I am able to use my time being on line and learn so much . We always had expert writers in IL , now miss most of them but there are now new writers posting.

Just got this from my best friend Google

Time is defined as a particular period or a part of duration whether it is the past, present or future. One should use one’s time effectively and rationally so as to maximize one’s output and learn several things simultaneously. Time and tide wait for none. Lost time which is money will never come back. Using time effectively is also a talent or art which very few people possess. In the words of Doug Larson, “For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.” One should live in the present time rather than dwelling or clinging on to the past or thinking about the mysterious future. No one knows what the future holds or has in store for all of us. Past is history, future is mystery and present is the present or the gift of God. So, make the most of the time in hand. In the words of William Faulkner, “Clocks slay time... time is dead as long as it is being clicked off by little wheels; only when the clock stops does time come to life.”

    My dear Viji
This song by Rafi set to music by Shankar Jaikishan is one of my top favourites. I can sing that song fairly well. What you have said about Shyamala is absolutely true.

    My dear Viji
Post retirement is the time when people find a lot of work that they love. In India, our youth and middle age are spent in work for a living whether we like it or not. I once conducted a survey in a major branch of the Bank of which I was the Chief. There were about 500 people working in it. To a simple question whether they liked what they were doing, more than 90% answered in the negative. It was in connection with a Job Satisfaction survey. If people were not interested in what they were doing, how could we expect a high standard in the work done? They were all interested in Labour union activities, salary revision, increase in DA and such other things. There was great demand for circulars on these subjects but not on subjects like Credit dispensation, Asset Management, Non performing assets etc.

That was a nice quote from Google. Have you noticed the change in their logo? It's lovely. Smooth curves, colourful and visually arresting. This is what I used to say about the girls who studied with me in the early '60s. I now say it of Google! The Power of Time indeed!

    Howdy Sri uncle!!

Pardon this out of the cobalt blue appearance :) . Hope you remember this avatar, and good to appear on IL - I had to test if I still remembered my password, and this time my brain did beat the power of time. I remember it!!! Somethings never change, no matter how powerful Time can be; it is the popularity of your posts (and you!). You may have aged, but your words are as fresh and crisp as the winter this year (crispest in the last 26 yrs I am told). So, there is nothing to worry about. The Universe in you keeps regenerating over and over - just like the Dr Who character! I just had to push that in as well :) . Having found my password, I did the needful by reading one of your posts and one of Kamalji's - his jokes continue! It's as if I have always been here - the power of time that too.

Hope you are keeping well. Gotta go as I am riding the wind on a pelican's wings!

    My dear, dear k2s!
What a delightful re-entry this is! I feel so honoured that you chose one of my posts to read and that of dear Kamalji's as well after logging in with your password that you wrenched out of a dusty corner of your memory! And I must give it to you. There is none to equal you in generating such warmth with your words! Thank you for your kind words of appreciation. Talking of crispy winters, it is high time that our planet realigned itself so that Chennai enjoys some glorious weather that we only get to hear about. This is one matter that God is not quite equitable about!

Don't damage your pelican wings by flapping them too furiously. We need you to fly back to IL time and again!

I don't know what shade of blue is this out-of-sky appearance! But whatever blue is the contrail you left behind is illuminating enough for me to hightail here and pinch you and check - "Is that really you"? (on a reddened check)

There are few more things that keep regenerating even when they don't fight Daleks or control TARDIS

I want to ask the direction of that pelican's wings you are travelling on. Is it accelerating towards us or steering away from us. A part of me says you will return yet a part of me is trying to compute in which universe will that convocation take place so that I arrive beforehand and greet you.
