    why is the thread so silent. i could not post my plates for the last two days. a little busy..

    @bhucat why not use the noodles alone and dump the masala that comes with it. make your own sauces and add vegetables and give her. don't deprive her of the food she loves, just look at the round about way of making it better.. the masala contains hydrogenated oils and msg, and that is why many are so fond of it. and i think i already described what msg does..so go ahead.

    i know what you mean by not eating outside. we don't eat outside unless it is a treat, and that too it is once in 3 /6 months. the kids know what is good and what is bad by watching us.

    @Vanivyas lovely dhokla and spread.

    @satchitananda yum food..

    @pihu123 just have a thripala chooran/tablet in the night. but i would suggest having a talk with your doctor. a general physician. you have piles too. your fear of passing stools can also tamper with your bowel movement. it may look surprising but stress can cause constipation. you are stressed about conceiving and also about your piles.

    it is almost more than a year i have watched you looking for alternative treatment and home remedies for the condition. i have a small suggestion hope you take it positive.

    with pregnancy, piles and constipation can aggravate. you need to get yourself cured of the piles, even if surgery is the only option.

    sometimes gut distress can also cause this issue. if you are a wheat eater, how about stopping wheat for a week or month and seeing how it works for you. sometimes your not able to digest gluten can cause constipation ..new studies even point more though i would not want to talk about that.

    hai
    I these days cook only for 2 of us which is very difficult but nevertheless I am used to cooking for as many as 50 people .and a big spread at that .so as shanvy saysits imp to plan.i plan for the week bcos I buy veg for a week. so which gets cooked first which on the last day is therfore decided.I do make my own masalas.I roast each ingredient seperately ( jeera/dhania/ thil/groundnuts /udath dhal/ channa dhal/ etc powder them individually and store in air tight boxes.paste of ginger/ onion /tomato/garlic if u use (v dont)these go in frig.
    veg are chopped earlier night/
    I wkeup only at 6.30 but my cooking/breakfast & lunch is done by 7.30.
    Typically menue :1. Sambhar or morkouzhambu or pappu ( a very telugu influence)or vethakozhumbu.
    2 curries 2 types 1 dry /one wet like poriyal/kootu/ saag type
    3 Roti/ rice
    4 thoku
    5 curds.
    6. mormolaga /vadams/applam.Applam I roast in microwave
    Yes I do all this in an hour and our lunch box snack water /tea /coffee etc is all packed.
    As Shanvy says its all planned and ticked off.mentally.
    but if it is for an event /party pooja/ etcits on a paper .
    I have had to work more than 12 hrs a day with tremendous demands on my time officially and domestically as well for so many years that it has become a second nature.
    but s my dear youngsters who are beginning make planning a habit over time you can accomplish much more than you can think.
    sorry am I sounding like a old matron !!

    It is summer, and end of an year. so it is arranging dresses,books and things that can be sent to the orphanage. so a little busy. have segregated them and next wash, sew buttons and send it across.

    cleaning groceries bottles and sun drying..ha i miss my maid..and so many other things that i could not upload any plates.

    and it is real hot that i end up drinking lots of buttermilk and juices and water that i do not find myself hungry.

    with dd not at home we are back to eating greens every alternate day..

    it was rasam, flax seed flour, amaranth flour roti, greens, curds. what to do when the stem are too long, and adding into the greens would increase volume that was too much. you make another sabji with just the stems of the greens..tossed in with some chana dal and spices.. this is how a little thick stem is cooked...

    yesterday was barley, plantain roasted sabji, gongura/pulichakeerai/sorrel dal, curds and cucumber+carrot+mango salad tossed with mint, and roasted flax seeds..

    how many of you remember the process of making mango pickles in the summer.. oh the week long process. the cleaning of jaadis/pickle jars especially these
    Pickle Lota, Pickle Bowl, Stoneware Jars, Pickle Jars, Clay Articles, Ceramic Products, Morbi, India

    the drying of red chillies, salt.

    what i remember as a child..the salt dried mangoes..and then the thokku. but as a teen, had the experience of making avakkai..the fiery red hot yet yum pickle..it was a staple at home after that..many a day a little of the spicy masala from the pickle and dal powder mixed rice was divine..i would love eating it even now, only i can't eat pickles as per my doctor...

    the pounding of chillies using the rice powder/ulakkai..we used to have a iron powder that we used to use to pound idli powder and rice for festivities.. and during the pickle season chilies and salt..because rock salt went real well with the pickle..and mustard..though we did have mixie even then.. the burning hands for days..uff..and then selecting the best mangoes, soaking, washing and cleaning and then cutting..

    today, go to the market, select the mangoes and you have somebody who will chop it to bite sizes for you..even then bringing it back and cleaning, wiping and pat dry..it took me a solid 3 hours to do a kg of mangoes...

    and if you are not particular you get the mixed pickle masala..otherwise your dear friend, mixie come to the aid..to grind the mustard and rock salt..these days i get the chilli powder milled in the machine..so saved...

    and the pleasure of watching the happiness in your kiddo's eyes (who loves mango pickle) priceless...
