Then 1/12 th of the entire population of babies are unlucky for their father ????

That is 12,73,033 in just India alone!

    What nonsense!!!

Ask them back if there is anyway you can hold the baby in your tummy till chittirai passes !

Tell me one thing - Is there any way you could have predicted this? If these relatives are so concerned, they should have told you before you conceived that you need to calculate when to conceive so that you are not giving birth in the month of Chithirai. You are going to have a healthy baby, and that is all that you need to worry about. This whole thing about being born on certain nakshatrams or certain months is crazy.

As long as you and your husband have nothing but joy nothing else matters.

Just a story - Girls born in the stars of Ayiliam and moolam are considered bad for the grooms family. They will only be accepted into families where the FIL is already expired. Reason? Girls with these stars apparently cause the MIL to become a widow. My cousin sis has the star Moolam. When she got married, FIL and MIL were alive. People advised against it in my BIL's family. My cousin's FIL simply stated...one day I have to go. Just because I die, it's not my DILs fault.

Relax dear. From what I have heard, in olden days they said chithirai is not good for babies to be born in general as the heat is more during the summer and it will be difficult for the baby. That is the reason they separate the newly married couples during aadi masam. But nowadays we do have ways to tackle summer heat and so no worries.

I haven't heard anything related to the month and the father.

In chithirai masaam. the summer will be at its peak. There will be discomfort for the Mom and Child due to the heat and that is the reason .. it was told in earlier days...not to have a child in that month. If the actual reason is provided, people never listen.. so they spun such stories to instill fear in the couple.
Now we have A/C, fan and everything.. :). So every day is a good day !! No worries..
Enjoy your new bundle of Joy !

    Just relax.

    @sugansunil,
Congrats on your pregnancy. Yes, your are one of the lucky ladies to conceive in a short span after your marriage. All that is just bull****.
I am in my mid-thirties now. I was born in chitirai only(April end). My dad started his business just the same month I was born. And he is still doing it very well.He bought our home, car, jewels for my mom, me & my sis, educated us, got us married, post marriage expenses et all with this same business.
Generally elders say to avoid childbirth in april - may because it is too hot during this period.

Please do not contact such heartless people, who are confusing you at this late stage of pregnancy. Just think about your lo & take care of your health too. All the best & happy parenting.

Chittirai appan theruvinile.. it actually means appan sivan is on the thaer on the veedhi in chittirai..it actually refers to the car festivals across tamilnadu. it slowly got converted into the chittirai appan theruvinile meaning the father of the child.

@sugansunil those were the days of infant deaths. i know many grandmothers who gave birth to 12/13 children out of which only 4 were alive. so there was fear embeded into lot of things.

a child born in chittirai-(apirl 14- may 15) the kattiri veyil season is prone to dehydrations, chicken pox and many seasonal infections prominent in the summer. and that was the other reason couples were distanced in aadi month (july-august).

Today we have moved past many of these reasons, with advancement in technology.

we don't worry much about ayilyam or moolam. (there are always exceptions)

so relax and enjoy your pregnancy, and pray for a healthy baby..god bless.

Imagining the conversation at the wife's FOO -

Mom and baby will suffer because Chittirai too hot to have a baby
=> Aadi masam not the right time for couple to live together because the MAN cant control himself !
=> lets not tell the right reason because people will listen only if the MAN of the house will get affected, they dont care about the women and kids
=> lets tell everyone that it is dangerous for the FATHER !!!
