First of all, no matter what hair straightener or heated hair appliances you use, you should always use heat protection, especially if you are doing it more than just once a month.

There's heat-protectant products that are out there, but the one I recommend above all is the Aquage Beyond Shine Heat Protectant Spray (easily available on Amazon).

    sleekhair_2272_1197021233.jpeg

You just spray it onto sections of your hair (should be dry hair) and comb it through. A little goes a long way.

You can also pair this up with other Aquage products like the straightening gel but another great line of products is from Aveda. If you've already damaged your hair, the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight is pretty awesome.

Aside from that, I would advise for ceramic tourmaline ionic hair-straighteners like GHD, Chi or Coroliss. Also, when it comes to matters of the hair, it's better to check on reviews and if you intend to use it regularly, get a higher-end professional model because it makes all the difference in professional results without the damage that lower-end products would cause.

Now if you want straight hair on a weekly or daily basis, then I would recommend you consider Keratine Treatments at a reputable salon.

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum. I am of Telugu background, and my parents both have straight hair. My mother has very thick straight hair, and my father has slightly wavy medium thickness hair. When I was a child, my parents had the tonsure (head shaving) ceremony for me (puttentikallu), and my hair has been UGLY ever since. I was born with REALLY soft curls; now, I have VERY tight curls that are REALLY dry and brittle. My hair is incredibly thick and coarse, and no amount of oiling (even after 16 years) has been able to help my hair. For my Telugu ladies out there, if I shave my head one more time (Tirupati ceremony), would it grow back softer, like my baby hair? My hair went from completely soft to bristly and unmanageably thick and dry. I want to have my baby hair back; how do I get it back?!?!? Again, the question is, will shaving my head give me back my soft curls?

    Hi,

I use MATRIX total results Sleek Lisse Iron Smoother as a heat protectant spray. I'm planning to switch it to Schwarzkopf smoothing cream. Anyone using that?

    Suggestions please..

Can we do blow dry as an alternate to ironing?

I honestly don't think that shaving your head again will restore your hair to what you had as a child before tonsure because the hair that grew after tonsure is what you have now. My suggestion is that you treat it as damaged and try to repair it.
I can tell you what I use. Pro Naturals Hair Repair System and I use is alongside my Australian Tea Tree Shampoo & Conditioner. To understand how it works I read this blog http://overallbeauty.com/beauty-blog/2014/03/29/pro-naturals-hair-repair- system-saving-my-hair-from-me/#sthash.rL52V3h Repairing takes time and patience but I hope this post will help you just a little.

Sorry I missed your post the last time.

    Answer to your 1st question:
Never used MATRIX total results Sleek Lisse Iron Smoother or Schwarzkopf.
I use Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil leave in treatment as my protectant. I put a few drops on my palm and gently rub it into the ends of my hair and slowly rub it up the hair, maybe halfway up but I don't rub it into my scalp. I use my Ultralight Ionic hair dryer and G3 Salon Pro styling iron every 3 days approx. but I do not have any split ends and my hair is very shiny and very easy to manage.
    Answer to your 2nd question:
If you follow the suggestions in this link:
    karminhairtools.com/advice/how-to-straighten-hair-without-heat
Let me know how it goes.

Using henna repeatedly (once in 2 weeks for 5-6 months) can make your hair straight naturally, as long as the henna does not have amla in it.

When I say straight, I mean straighter than usual. If you are type 2a, then it will surely get you to a 1b or 1c.
