    To Prana,

Its "Oru kaadhal nivandham", a story that revolves around pacifying Rajendra Chozha's anger where the explanation is more about the Devar adiyaar people and the service that they do. Well. Those people who dedicated their lives to God were later ill treated and forced into the oldest profession in the world. It was a nice one.

    And to Kanchi,
Yes. I read and enjoyed Udayar, for Balakumaran's writing. It was brilliant in parts and otherwise a bit dragging. Well, thats my view. I liked the first two parts where he reasoned nicely about why the temple was built and later on, explaining how such a tall gopuram must have been build and that tall lingam be carried in.

From a historical point of view, I am a Chandilyan fan and liked Ponniyin Selvan a lot. Balakumaran did some justice about describing the village and the kingdom, but I felt that Udayar is more of a tribute personally to Rajaraja Chozha. Btw, I am a Balakumaran fan too and read almost all his works till 2010.

    Sri sir,

Later I read the first part of Udayar..I felt that it was very dragging(my personal opinion)...As a die hard ponniyin-selvan lover, I couldnt read further parts..so I stopeed...

Btw, I read 'oru kaadhal nivedhiyam' too..I loved the plot very much..And am not a big fan of Balakumaran, though I like his piece of work, 'payanigal kavanikkavum'...Really I loved that story and still remember the herione character name ie Gargina...
