Neetu’s DIY – Luscious lip butter and Exotic creamy body butter

I got smitten by body butter’s recently and with winter fast approaching, I thought why not try my hand in its making. I have to say, the inspiration came from Maddy’s post, her DIY recipe on lip balm and off course some research from internet.
I must confess, I went a little overboard and ended up making an exotic butter.

    Luscious Lip butter :-

    Pure Beeswax – 1 tsp
    Pure Shea butter – 1tsp
    Almond oil – 2 tsp
    Olive oil – 1tsp
    Coconut oil – 3 tbsp
    Vitamin E capsule – 3
    Honey – 2 tbsp
Revlon lip stick(creme chocolate 302 velvet) – a small piece.

    1) Use a double boiler to melt the wax and butter. I used a pan to boil the water and used a glass bowl on top on it to melt the butter. It’s easy for handling.
    2) First add the beeswax and shea butter and once it starts to melt add the lip stick (See, this is optional if you want to go tinted like me. If you prefer to go completely organic, skip the lip stick)
    3) add all the oil now and finish off adding the honey.
    4) switch of the gas.
    5) pour into the container while its hot, coz it takes hardly few minutes to set.

Now the lip butter is ready… My color looks a little darker, but its just natural rich pink once I wore it. Your lips would fall in love with it.

    Exotic creamy body butter :-

Pure Bees wax – 1 tsp
Pure Shea butter – 3 tsp
Pure cocoa butter – 3 tsp
    Coconut oil – 3tbsp
    Almond oil – 3 tbsp
Essential oil – 15 drops (I used aroma magic satin smooth skin softener blended oil). It had a blend of geranium, orange, neroli and petit grain oils.

    1) Use a same double boiler method.
    2) First add the beeswax and butters and once it starts to melt add the carrier oils.
    3) switch of the gas.
    4) add the essential oil

After melting, remove it from the gas and cool it for some time(it will be in oil stage). Then transfer it to a container and freeze it. Now you can see it getting buttery.
After 1 hr, remove it and whip until it form peaks. Freeze it for another 1 hr and whip again. This sets the butter nicely.
Finally transfer it to storage container. It’s all natural and very nourishing.

Oh yes yes Angel... Last year I spent thousands on Body shop butter's. I didn't know it was this simpler, cost effective and all the more "very organic".
Glad that you liked my experiment. Thanks!

N' - it sounded very much like a recipe - but it's for the skin :)

Snippets for 2 senses and for the third a recipe - great going :)
