    Hi All,
My baby is 3 months old and I am giving him both formula and breast milk. How much milk should 3 months old drink in a day normally?Mine is taking about 400 ml (both formula and breast milk) in a day.He is very much interested to drink breast milk than formula, but Iam not getting enough milk to breast feed him exclusively.Any solution for this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Samyuktha.

The breast milk is so powerful, that there no equivalent match for it, on this earth. Don’t introduce any other milk or food till 6months. More than 6 months exclusive breastmilk is good for your child’s immune system & entire health that will be a foundation for entire life.

I have posted some of the research papers form ncbi,in the below link, please read it. Doctors may or may not know it; most of it are recently published. Don’t ignore, read it.

Don’t read information on any other websites& forums… now a days website are free, anyone can create a website & post info/articles.

Follow info given by ncbi (National Center for Biotechnology Information) US National Library of Medicine. 80% of the info for medical industries including mbbs, ms is given by ncbi & pubmed. It’s a US govt research center.

Breast milk for more than a year is very goodfor your child’s mental & physical health. Working womens don’t do it & they won’t observe any effect, …problem starts only after 15 to 16 years. After so many years they don’t realize its because of less breast milk, even if realized, it'll be too late...nothing can be done

Why I’m stressing on this concept is, I’m one of the victim. My age is 27 now, from childhood I suffered serious metabolic issues & very weak immune system. I use to have nutritious food, still I suffered a lot. From last few years due to some alternative healing methods I have become normal.

Have nutritious food, consume more fluid, veggies& fruits. Frequent breastfeeding sessions stimulate your body to produce more milk. Visit your doctor & resolve the issue soon.

    Dear Samyuktha,

Nothing can substitute breast milk for a baby. So, try to give that as much as you can until you are empty on both sides (no fixed quantities/measurements here). To enhance milk production, you must increase your intake of fluids too (lots of water, milk, and nutritious items like dry fruits, leafy vegetables, etc.) By doing so and keeping yourself well hydrated, you will be replenishing your milk stock in a matter of a couple of hours after feeding. You may consult a doc/gyn who can suggest you a powder, which can enhance the production of milk producing enzymes in the body, thereby making more milk available for your child.

    Hope this is helpful...

    Regards,

Sangiak & fallenangel33, you both are correct, nothing can substitute breast milk. BF develops baby’s overall mental & physical health, no food on this earth can do it or substitute it.

First of all how do you say that you are not getting enough breastmilk? Let me share what I know.

Our breast secretes more milk when the baby sucks. If you to try to express bm, it ll be actually less. As and when the baby sucks, the milk gets secreting. That's how it works. Keep feeding your baby. The baby will get enough of it. Don't worry.

In addition to everything said above, allow him to suckle both breasts during each feeding if he is not satisfied with one side. Breast feeding even during night time is more important to sustain effective breast milk secretion.

Before feeding him you take a glass of milk, juice or water. Relax and sit comfortably while breast feeding.
