    Dear Shalu,

Foremost congratulations on entering into the motherhood phase.
while i was reading your write up i could imagine how your baby smiles and sings and can feel how beautiful she is:) Thats the divinity present inside every baby and it should be felt at heart and not thru eyes upon seeing outwards...
few people can never realize such moments and to me they are not gifted people how much ever they are beautiful in look .... so pls ignore those people and their words ....and think they are so ignorant about real beauty and happiness....

even am a mom of 5 months girl and i hear people talk & mentioning to me and hubby "aiyo kozhandha ava ( me) colour vandhuvalo" nu .... coz am dark skinned and my hubby is bit fair skinned .... i too get irritated when i hear such statements based on skin colour .... what if the baby change colour .... what if baby is dark skinned.... end of the day she is our daughter and no wrong in looking like either ... our cultural colour itself is dusk/dark only .... why not accept and encourage them...
all are gifts from god ... lakshanam and how well a child is growing up with good heart is more imp .... skin colour may change, outer beauty will fade out as days goes ... what is always be there is inner beauty and as you say " beauty lies in eyes of beholder"
fair skin has its own disadvantages over dark skinned in many ways and they ll not realize until they face a problem .... and no way one colour is superior over other....

so please dont bother about such comments .....
enjoy every action of ur little angel :) she is always a beautiful girl to you and all daughters to their mothers:)

take care .. my hi and hi-fi to your LO :) :)

    Good Post.

I think these days people are only interested in seeing fair red lipped faces. Though we can talk of inner beauty and characteristics it actually is a long way out from the practical life. Right from interviews to get a job until selection of a girl for marriage depends on the skin color. Having said this, I need to mention that I have a dark colored skin and my sister is fair esp when she is with me.
From child hood, people used to day this, one is fair like mother and one is dark like father. I have grown up listening to this and used to buy all fairness creams that were released in the markets during my school days.
By the time I joined my college due to other personal issues i had other things more important to me. So i did not bother or care about my skin , dressing and complexion. The age when people are busing in buying the best of cloths and dressing I was sharpening myself for a better me in terms of education only.
I came out as a university topper and i recd several medals each year. Though i never got one for a best student or outstanding student as i had focus only on studies.
With gods blessings, i moved on to a different city for Job and soon i became a better me. I stopped worrying about anything else and started focusing on me. I did spend for me and became a better person in terms of everything.
Today i don't even remember i was dark. Yes I was dark because i could not see things beyond my complexion and studies. Now i am fair as i see all things around me.
I started living my life and i started admiring my life which made me increase my fairness. No regrets or worries, i take all step positively. I don't care if people say i am fat or dark. I say to myself, i have more things to do in life than making me look beautiful in your eyes..... I am beautiful enough for me and my family.
So the world, shut up and mind your business. If you are too much interested in others business, render your help for the needy and the poor. they require help and not me.... Thanks for the concern.

:hello: Dear OP I ENJOYED THE heart wrenching profound thinking wider views in this thread of yours.
It reminded me of celebrities all over the world then and now that includes Nobels.

Your baby around eight now must be doing great. My blessings to her and all your family members.
It reminded how a push from train in a country known then for apartheid resulted the base for india’s revolution to get the Britisg Quit India thanks to father of the nation. It also reminded me the patriot Nelson Mandela & Abraham and many more from continents. They were all black beauties hailed for their large hearted inner beauty.

The Lords of Hindu pantheon all are depicted black in the idol they are worshipped. It is very same people who seek favour or benevolence from these black depicted stone idols, reject and shun dusk and dark complexioned persons read babies.

They call Him Neela Mega Shyamala Vernon & celebrate a day or two annually in His name & rejoice but when it comes to selecting a girl’s hand for marriage they want all in white!

Black leaders including Kamala Harris are shaping history.

I enjoyed reading the thread in its entirety including +comments from Senior Moderator @Cheeniya at FP announcement page.
