    Hi all,

@Mahe I really love the look of your Thali today.

@Shanvy yummy buns... I tried some no-knead bread myself with a mix of whole wheat and wheat.. then tried doing the same with raagi and whole wheat.. was flat and not as fluffy. Tempted to give it another shot.

So came home with backache (nothing serious) so DH cooked rice last night. Had leftover lunch with rice, dal and veggies. SO no pic. Tonight will make healthy low-carb meal and share my lunch tomorrow. Noticed that most of your Thalis have 3-4 side dish items.. maybe I will incorporate that to cut down on the carbs!

Today i had some outside work with dd's school and other stuffs so i was in hurry burry...no time to sit and eat...some service person came in between my lunch so i did not took pic of today's, in my plate i had hp brown rice, coriander leaves thuvaiyal, milagu rasam and sepankizhangu roast with little oil and curd....

these are the tips given by ayur doc regarding general health.
    1. Women these days have low calcium hence we need to add drumstick leaves, manathakali leaves in our diet thrice in a week.
    2. Need to eat calcium rich food like millets - ragi, kambu etc. If possible include handpounded rice in our meal.
    3. Must take oil bath regularly, say once in a week atleast. Oil bath should be to the whole body and not for head massage alone. We need to rub and massage our body so that a natural form of calcium is produced from the bone marrow when rubbing gently. In that way we can get calcium naturally, hence the oil bath is must.
    4. For kids below 8/10 years we can even apply pure cow ghee (not the branded from shops) for body massage (not for hair) and then wash it away with shikkai. Or the next best oil is gingelly oil.

just want to share these info with you all...

Hi friends, Not addressing each ones post seperately here but had read all the pages which i left for the past 3/4 days completely...need to mention that all the plates are so healthier and so inspiring....

Laks, hope you are doing good...i did not see any post from your end, hope things are going well, what about marathon, it got finished?

Sorry folks, real life seems to be taking over in a not so welcome manner. Mom is ill again and I have my hands full managing home without cook, running to visit mom and trying to keep my mind diverted with experiments.

Today's breakfast: A wild idea from BH's head modified with some more wild ideas from me.

Attempted baking a bread for the first time.

Lunch was a quarter bowl of sprouts (moong dal and matar) in gravy and a bowlful of salad and yoghurt.

Dinner: 2 tbsps cooked barley with 3 serving spoons of the sprouts gravy, 1 slice cheese.

    Dessert: 2 medium sized guavas.

Greens day.. Palak paneer and turnip greens dal.
I am in a greens rut.. mostly I make spinach and sometimes methi. Other Indian varieties are not always available here..
Years ago, I remember buying few local varieties of greens and they turned out bitter, so gave up.
But I thought if can happily eat Karela once in a while.. I can learn to love the local bitter greens too.
But the problem is that the bunches are sold so big, it is hard for 2 people to consume so much.

    Shans,

Question for you. I know muscles retain water when sore. I have been walking a lot lost few days. I feel sore. My question is taking a kanji with barley powder will help with this? Other question is what is advisable.....should I rest or push myself to walk? I know we should listen to our body but since I have the momentum and ad I am just walking, should I continue?

Sorry friends, other than mention of barley, my post is totally unrelated to the thread.

@mahe lovely plate and full of wonderful goodies. did not do much yesterday. had a small tussle when i was out on sunday. a tvs 50 with full load overtook me as i got down the bus. my duppatta which was pinned got stuck to one of the parcels, dragged me to a distance until the pins popped out ..had rashes because of friction caused from the pulling of the duppatta..burns on the neck and a slight leg twist..nothing serious. so was taking it slow. pedestrians are at danger..as long as the pedesterian walks are left for the pedestrian things will not change.

that is the reason no plate yesterday. had lots of sabjis and curds and a little rice. today feeling good.

the whole month is full of festivals and more neivedyams..keep them coming..

@writera, i have done ragi bread, but added some wheat to it. i love the no-kneading bread that i saw in masterchef too. try it again..
I am planning to make some for my dh. he complains that i make most of these goodies only when he is not in town. and i thought he wanted homecooked southie fare of sambhar and idli. so maybe tommorrow.. yeah for ramadan..
