Lunch Ideas - Creating Balanced Vegetarian Meals

    My first try on organic healthy bake: Banana cake: Made of whole wheat flour,over ripe bananas, vegetable oil, honey-jaggery, milk.

    This week is mostly usual rice fares (rasam, paruppu, porridge, clear soups) at home as DS had viral fever since last friday. He is up and went to school today only. So still getting back from lethargy caused by those temperature taking, sleepless nights and severe menstrual migraine.
    Lunch plate is: Rice + Bhindhi curry
    Dinner: Dosai + chutney.
    BF: Soy milk

    Thanks for this info. Fortunately I did not take it on an empty stomach - I did feel bad about it, but now I guess it was just as well.

    Abhi dear,

    Hope you DS gets better soon. Your banana bread looks yummy. I hould try my hands in baking.....not sure why I am so hesitant. May be I am scared that I will eat everything.

    A night of insomnia for no reasons. had packed lunch at 6.00 as dd had to leave at 6.20. since i have a packed day, thought will just reply to all of you before i leave. and what a good thing to do while sipping my cuppa of fresh brewed filter coffee.

    Thanks for the recipe. i thought that it was just peels. with tomatos in i am sure it would not be felt at all. but i know that the peel of bananas are full of nutrients.

    for the appam recipes.will write them down in a day revathysiva..nothing great. simple. i replaced wheat with whole multigrain flour that i mill , replaced sugar/jaggery with karupatti, added little powdered nuts badam and pista with full melon seeds. a few drops of vanilla.

    karupatti crushed. add water to dissolve and then strain. to this add the flour and other ingredients. if you find it is thick add milk. make them on the kuzhi paniyaram pan. you can also add some baking soda and baking powder and bake it in a muffin pan.

    kara version- powder some roasted chana dal, powder coarse oats. add to this cabbage/carrot/ shredded. i use sesame seeds too. mince them or shred them. taste varies with both version a slight change. mix them with water..and make them on the pan. you can make with besan+wheat and all this. it is a flexible recipe. you can add/- as per your wish.

    and yes tomato chutney or sauce does a good complement to the kaara appam

    It is just that you acquire the taste. for brown rice you need the dishes to be a little more spicy. the bran is intact and that gives a nutty flavor and people who are more used to the ponni or jeeraga samba don't like it. but once you start, you like that flavor.

    and good that you are making use of all the millets.. way to go. and the porridge is good for uts, with her heavy school schedules...

    welcome back and wonderful progress.

    and yeah for all the success and everything. nice to know you have lovely in-laws and sweet ones..and i understated the feeling of eating more ...i ised to do it with guests, only now i have stopped telling them eat what they are comfortable. no force feeding ..you are going to shop for a smaller size soon..keep rocking and keep your progress consistent.

    so the efforts of clicking is worth everyone. listen to the motivation this thread is giving people..

    Viji, how do you miss friends as they are always present. yesterday there was a discussion on whether we should get that eos60d for c a bundle offer with two sets of lens..but then she is so busy with no time to take the camera out..so on hold. yet was thinking of calling to discuss but then will call next week so that you can pull my legs joining you know who.

    i hope A is doing better.

    now don't say sorry. i was pulling your leg as usual. the kids love the way put those pictures together.drool worthy. i am right now having a batch of dough left to raise in the oven. contemplating whether it should be stuffed bun or just pav.. now there is nothing wonderful than the smell of yeast baking. and i admire the effort that should be going without a proper oven.

    now with satchi tempting us with air-fryer, has your shopping list increased..lol..

    thanks on the tip of lauki. i wanted to try for the water retention. let me stick to my barley and teas...

    keep them coming..tempting.. i loved the bread with honey and jaggery.


    P.S. only thing on the -ve is my EB bill that will soon reach 5 figures..
