    Wow Shanvy! Amazing spread.

The vazhakai skin tohail: In the recipe I read, it was recommended to saute the skin and the tomatoes. This was the skin of the regular vazhakai which we use to make vegetable. Since the banana was already steamed, I only sauteed the tomatoes.

This was the recipe as given in a foodie group on FB:

I added the skin of the cooked banana peel as it was.

Hi Shanvy and all other friends,

for the past one year, I take all the multigrains (thinai, samai, kollu etc , nearly 30 items ) for kanji everyday.

On reading this thread, bought varagarisi and kudhiraivali this month provision and made arisi upma. (got only in the form of kurunai). It tastes really great. a few months back, tried brown rice for the first time, somehow we dont like its texture, so added that too in my kanji items.

    way to go.

    Dear all,

I am back. Last week, mid-week we left to visit my in-laws. Where we gorged on all the delicacies that my mother-in-law prepared. Meals were regular chapathi + rice, lots of vegetables and dals. At M-I-L's place have to eat 2-3 chapathis and rice with every meal otherwise they get very upset and bombard with questions as to why am not eating, not feeling well etc etc... all well meaning and sweet! After a week or so of sharing my plates here and trying to eat light. It was a serious carb overload. I was sleepy all the time. Worse was after getting back home on Monday I was so lethargic and the fridge was Khali... so no veggies.. just making do all these days. The stress of work is also back with deadlines looming over my head, I was working non-stop for 8 hours yesterday.

After logging onto this forum this evening and going through the posts I was so inspired! Despite problems and obstacles everybody is soldering on. I will definitely post my lunch plate tomorrow. Ordered veggies and groceries from store nearby as I live really out of the city... so should have something healthy.

Btw, wanted to report that just after few days of posting my plates and walking 10 minutes for a month everyday, I am lighter. My weighing scale is out of battery but I wore these tops and pants that just fit so well. My stomach wasn't bulging out and I was comfy wearing it without a stole that I would wear with a short top!

    Will see you tomorrow.

@ Sats & others: Not to be skeptic but I would like to request you to be cautious on taking lauki juice in empty stomach. It is a known cause for many Gastro intestinal disorders and the level of toxins (cucurbitacins) found in some lauki juice might be detrimental to health. Moderation is the key.
