    recipe for diabetic

    dear Uma
    Fenugreek is best for diabetic.fry and powder it and dialy consume one spoon powder.fenugreek with milk and add curd in the night.keep it.Next day the fenugreek curd may be consumed.Or soak the fenugreek seeds and let it sprout.The sprouted fenugreek is more nutriousand fibre content.It can be consumed as salad with coconut grated and pinch salt.Fibre is most helpful for diabetic.More vegitables and any fruits[not very sweet] may be consumed.ie orange,pinnable,rose apple starfruits etc.,

    Dear madam,

    Recently i saw an interview with Doctor regarding diet for diabetic in a Tv channel , Dr. says chapathi is good for all not only for diabetic. In that wheat fibre content is more so it helps more to diabetics .Fruits particularly which are in round shape are more helpfull to diabetic patients.chickoo (sapota) should be avoided.

    But I heard wheat is also a very good source of carbohydrate, so I am confused whether it is good for diabetic person or not.

    Hi Uma

    My father is a diabetic from a long time now and now a heart patient... Papaya is good, Jamun is good, i dont know its english name but in india u get it in summers... Jamun is the best fruit for diabetics...

    u just have to take care to avoid potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrot, corn, Arbi, rice, and start using a sugar free tab for tea and coffee... in fact at my parents place my mum makes all the sweets for my dad with the sugar free sugar... and it tastes just wonderful...

    chapati is just fine, chapati has a lot of nutritional value also the fibre, but rice when boiled loses its nutritional value totally, and turns up in total bunch of waste calories.A walk is a must. u can make Amla ki subji, Amla is great for diabetics... and if you r not able to control ur sugar levels, have Neem leaves in the morning...

    if it is not for u and for someone else, then i wud also like to add, alchohal and Ciggerettes are like poison for diabetics...

    HI,

    I did my Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Nutrition.So let me share my knowledge....

    Diabetic Diet Principle: Highprotein, High fibre, Moderate Carbohydrate,Less fat, less sugar.
    Morning: Skimmed milk(as it has natural sweetness no add nay sugar/coffee with no or 1/4tsp sugar)

    Breakfast: Idly/dosai/cereal/oats/+sambar,milk....Chutney(tomato,corriander..try to avaoid as much as possible coconut).

    Midmorning:Lime juice, soup

    Lunch: rice/Chappathi with dhal.veg.curry.Skimmed.curd.

    Evening:sprouted grains, sundal,roasted bengal gram (one hand full)

    Dinner: 2 chappathi,ragi roti or 1 chappathi+1cup rice with dhal, veg.curry

    Night: if you wish have lukewarm skimmed milk- i small glass

    Eat in small intervals ,but limited amount...don't leave long gap between each meals.. Try to avoid junk food, high fatty food like ice-cream, chocolate etc.,

    Hope i covered as much as possible....

    Thats a good diet, i have sent the same to many friends who need that kind of a diet.............. thanks

    However, Could you post a good diet such , for those who need to lose weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Since you know are a NUtrionist, you could plan a 1000 calorie - 1800 cals kind of a diet that can bebefit , i am sure every I L..... ladies.

    We have great posts like Krishnamma and even others, who with thier knowledge have come up with wonderful diets.....

    However, can we hear from you too..........................
