Tonsure and Ear piercing function in the month of Aadi( Aashada)??

    Dear Ilites,

    Im back again with a qs. We are planning to do tonsure and ear piercing function for my 4 year old DD in the month of july (end) or Aug (1st week) which will be in the month of AADI- tamil month. Can we do this function in aadi maasam (month)?? As we are living in Kuala Lumpur, we will get leave only around this time. Please tell me whether we can go ahead and do this function during aadi month..

    Usually aadi is considered inauspicious flyhigh. But I know that sundays and fridays are good. Check with the priest and see what he says.

    Thanks for the reply Rakhii...It needs to be checked with ILs as it is done at their place...but DH is hesitant to ask them,he thinks he will be troubling them if he requests them to go and consult with the family priest(hardly will take half an hour.at times its soooo difficult to make ppl understand such small little things)...not sure what to do...should try thru other means i guess...

    Hi,

    Usually people avoid any function in the month of Aadi and Margazhi. In fact people donot even shift to a new place in this month.

    Thanks Lavanya...even im aware that no functions will done in the month of aadi and margazhi..but due to circumstances, we thought we will do this function...before zeroing in on the date, i thought i would take all ur opinions and dats y i posted this qs here...

    I think your inlaws will be thrilled if you involve them and ask them for help, assuming you share a good relationship with inlaws. They may take it the wrong way if you choose someone else for consultation.
