    Dear Marina,
Besides MW, I suggest you buy an O T G (Oven Toaster Grill) for baking. Mine is Samsung with convection & grill. DE68-02912C

    Dear Chitra Madam,
Its really wonderfull of you to share these recipes with us!
I have a onida convection microwave oven.Though i have the baking option i have never used it till date, bought it a year ago.I am familiar with microwave and grilling but not with baking. As i dont know to preheat the oven:cry:>i have tried it but it never gives buzzing sound as written in the manual.I get scarred that it will burst and stop itbonk

Can i use metal pans for baking?WIll it burst out?Wat kind of metal pans are to be used?CAn i use glassware and stoneware for baking and microwave both?I have a rack proovided with the oven used for grill,In the manual its written to use lower rack for baking,is it necessary to use the rack while baking?Or can i keep it directly on the turtable?I know its a lot of question at one go...Sorry to ask so much questions alltogether.

You must be thinking why am scaredof the oven bursting. Its because i read somwhere that a microwave bursted after aluminium foil being used.Almost 6 houses got destroyed.I read it after i bought the oven or else i would have never bought it:)

    Waiting for your reply,
    Jes

    Dear Jes,
    One answer at a time!
My firsat suggestion, read your user manual (every word) as though it is Gita or Bible!
Or, phone up the Onida people & ask them to send a mechanic for detailed demonstration.Even if you have to pay service charges, it is worth it.
If they are conducting MW classes, attend it without fail to learn to use it, the best
    way.
For Only convection, I use aluminium pans.Sometimes I bake in MW - then I use only glass.
Yes. glass & stoneware are suited for MW.
I always keep a low rack provided for placing the cake tin on, whenever I use the convection mode.
Any more query, please do not hesitate to ask!
Or run to Chennai for a day - I will demonstrate everything! You seem to be too scared!!:hide:
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chitra Madam,
Thanks a lot for answering my queries!
As suggested by you i literally read the manual just like the bible:).And Yipppeeeeeeeeee I baked cookies/Nankhatai today.I was so happy:))))
I was really scarred:hide: ,as it was my first time .I was watching my oven right from pre-heating till my cookies were done without even blinking. My first batch of cookies got a little burnt. The second round of batches was little undone so i microwaved it.I still need to learn to adjust the temperature and timings.

So here comes my next set of questions:)...Can i bake without using the rack?Is it really necessary?CAn u put some pictures of the pans you use for baking cake in convection mode. Also am planning to but an OTG too.CAn i bake a whole chicken in OTG.What brand do you suggest for it?
Next time i am goanna bake a cake.I tried cookies first as it takes less time to bake than a cake.

    Dear Jes,
    Congratulations.
I use aluminium pans for baking - will post photos shortly. Nothing fancy.
I am not sure about cooking a chicken, being a vegetarian.
I suggest you to buy Morphie Richards O T G around 26 lts.
If the manual says that the rack should be used, I suggest you to follow it. I definitely used the rack.
    Love,
    Chithra.

MW Chakli - no rice, only maida & dhals.

Maida is steamed to lose its glutonous effect & used.Only 1 tsp oil is added.

    Maida - 1 cup

Fried gram (pottukadalai) - 1 tbsp

Roasted groundnuts (skin removed) – 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder - 1 tsp

    Salt,

    Hing - 1 tsp

Low fat curds - 2 tbsp

    Oil - 1 tsp

Loosely tie the maida in a cloth & steam for minimum 15 mts.

Cool, break completely by passing through a mixi for a few secs & sieve fine.

Powder fine, fried gram & roasted peanuts.

Mix all the above with salt & red chilli powder.

Now add, 2 tbsp curds, 1 tsp oil and enough water to make a soft dough.

Put into a chakli mould and press out round whirls of the dough on a MW plate, 3 or 4 at a time.

MW Hi for about 5 mts till done. (time may vary by a mte in each oven)

    Remove after a few mts.

    Cool & store.

MW time differs with each oven.

Though crisp, it will not be crunchy because there is no oil.

This can be backed at 160 deg C in a tray in the oven for 10-12mts, turning it over once in the middle.
