What is the difference between aam admi (common man for Hindi challenged) and those who claim to be aam admis? What may be quite normal if it happens to real aam admi may be blown up into a mountain for self-proclaimed aam admis.

Take the case of kids playing cricket on the street. Every time I am walking in the lanes of my colony I tremble. at the very thought of some Sachin or Virat wannabe hitting a shot a chorus of voices roaring “SIX !!!!!!!!!” and it turns out that the boundary happens to be my eye or head.

I believe there is a Delhi High Court order banning playing ofr cricket on the road. But like many orders it remains on paper as kids merrily continue to damage windows and some hapless passerby’s anatomy

But wait, all this is only for the genuine aam admi like me. (I think there should be an Indian Standards Organization -- ISO certification for aam admis). Just what happens when the person at the receiving end of the ball happens to be a minister of the Aam Admi Party (AAP)government in Delhi.

Aam Admi or no Aam Admi, ministers tend to be khaas (special). Take the case of Rakhi Birla, one of these hurled into prominence by the recent Aam Admi shocker in Delhi assembly elections. The lady had gone to a function in her constituency. yesterday unaware that some kids were playing cricket nearby.

One kid sent the ball flying as it hit the windshield of the car axd shattered the glass. Within half an hour TV channels screamed: “ AAP MINISTER’S CAR ATTACKED!!!!” . The channels said the minister was in the car at that time,.

The initial impression was that some unknown goons had surrounded Rakhi’s car and attacked it . Even an AAP spokesman said that the minister’s car was surrounded and attacked by a crowd.

Later it all turned out to be much ado about nothing. When the cricket ball smashed the glass Rakhi Birla thought that some projectile had been hurled at her. Her daddy dearest who was with her angrily declared that it was an attack on his daughter. Finally one very pro-AAP channel Times Now made everyone look like an ass by revealing that it was all due to a cricket ball.. Imagine, if the ball had hit a real aam admi like you or me, would it have ever been noticed even if we suffer severe damages due to a superfast projectile.

Now what should the the minister do in such circumstances? She being a fresher in politics, with a clean slate so far, must take a cue from those who have dirtied their slates many times over.. There are leaders from whom she can take inspiration.—West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee for instance.

Just imagine, what would Didi have done if a ball had smashed the glass of her car?

She would have screamed “MAOIST ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!”. If it was later revealed that it was just a cricket ball, Didi would have declared that all cricketers were Maoists.and by giving a Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar the UPA government was encouraging Maoism.

Later w if it was discovered that it was a little kid who had hit the ball,, her every loyal backside wagging Sherlocks of Kolkata police would tone down the matter a bit and declare that the kid was suspected to belong to the primary school section of Communist Party of India’s (Marxist)’s student wing though initial reports had said that he was a Maoist.

Out of sheer terror of being denounced as Maoists, kids will stop playing cricket on street and lot of heads would remain uninjured.

This exactly, is the line the AAP government should take . Instead of looking sheepish when it was found that the guilty party was a hurtling cricket ball, they should straightaway declare that it was a terrorist attack on AAP ministers exploiting their vulnerable position of not having any security joes with them.

All cr the street Sachins and Wannebe Virats should be threatened with arrest under anti-terror laws. After all, that wouldn't be entirely wrong because these kids have been terrorizing g the passerby.. Terror of being declared terrorists would terrorize them. and roads will wear a cricketless look. Lot of aam heads will be saved.

Cricketing kids as terrorists, wouldn't that be making a mountain out of a molehill, you may ask but didn't lot of molehills become mountains in the great AAP revolution?

Balaji!! from what you say looks like we not only need AASO (Aam Admi Standards Organization) but there seems to be an even more urgent need of having a AAP - aam admi press else all these people from the other AAP (Party) will be toast in no time or like you suggested just turn out another AP - Aam party following their standards.

Enjoyed reading it and loved your sense of humour!

    Dear Balajee,

Good news for you. With this ball story, your ball got two wickets..one is that of AAP and the other is our own Kamalji! Imagine a news like this and you got to know and wrote a snippet while he had to know about it through you?!!

With both of you informing us about the state of affairs in our states, we are truly richer!

    Loved it of course!

    Dear Balajee,

i would prefer Aam Admi standards to be fixed by people rather than any government formed organization. Otherwise, like poverty line, the standard will be lowered.

instead of setting up elite foundations to coach cricket for rich children, retired cricketers could help those who play gully cricket to move to cricketing field. That will be a great service to those gully cricketers as well as Aam Admi.
