    Hi deeps,

A warm welcome to RUSTY.You are back in business again.....and what a heartwarming fulfilling occupation you have chosen too ....lavishing all the love and care on a beautiful doggie who will return your affection by tons each day !

When I saw RUSTY's pic here I felt I had seen another cutie like him in your long list of lovable doggies you cared for all these days and as I surfed back I came across the adorable pics you had posted about PRINCE.They do resemble a lot. PRINCE, I guess was younger.Perhaps they have the same spaniel mix characteristics.

So here I'm posting the pic you sent some time back of PRINCE....

5 year old 'Prince'... cocker spaniel mix [IMG]

RUSTY must have been like this as a pup, though his coat is darker. He will soon become a bouncing happy go lucky chap like PRINCE with your wonderful care and attention to all his health issues.
    Have fun....
BTW. do they only have spaniel breeds for foster care ,or is that your choice? They are so cuddly and adorable....wish I could just fly across and hug them!

    Great pics, deeps.
Rusty has such a pensive look....seems to be nursing some deep rooted sorrow. He looks very wise and has come to some conclusions about LIFE in general it seems. What is his past history? He needs to be hugged a lot now and you are definitely going to put the sparkle back in his eyes soon I'm sure. The lively look that your earlier doggies like Spence and Prince had is absent in Rusty's eyes.Do hug him for me ! Happy that you are there for him now...

Hi Paulina, he got a hug from you!
Rusty was given up by his family when he was 1+ years old and he came to our rescue group. One of the senior volunteers fostered him and he was adopted by her friend. He stayed there for 4 years and was given up few months ago because they had a baby and felt that he was an unpredictable biter. He came back to the same rescue. The senior volunteer suggested that I foster him because he doesn't get along with other dogs. She said that as long as he is handled gently, there should not be any aggression. (I am finding this to be very true) We were waiting for Prince to be adopted so that I can get him next.. He has KCS(dry eye) and coupled with some eye allergies, he was having a tough time at the kennel.

I picked him up the same day that Prince was adopted. He is a complete love bug. Just loves to cuddle and be with us all the time. In fact, if we leave him alone, he howls non-stop. Apart from this separation anxiety, he's been trouble-free. He tends to steal food stuff and get into trash cans, so we keep them out of his reach. There were a few incidents in the first few weeks, but I think he was just acting in defense as he was scared in the new place.

He does have sad eyes, and he half closes them when I try to take pics. (Normally also, he doesn't open his eyes as much as other dogs, possibly because of his eye issues)
But he is happy on the whole I think..he loves his routine which is - walks and cuddling and eating and sleeping. :)

Yes, we too feel that Rusty and Prince are a bit similar. Rusty is bigger though.

The rescue group I volunteer for, they are a cocker spaniel breed specific rescue. I am not really partial to any breed, it just happened to be the first rescue group that accepted my volunteer application.

Sadly, I think my fostering days are going to end soon. It is becoming difficult to foster because my job is increasingly needing me to travel unpredictably. Rusty might be my last foster. I am looking into other options of how else I can volunteer if I stop fostering. It's very upsetting to think about it.

    Hi deeps,
What a fabulous collection of adorable doggie pics ....dear RUSTY in various moods and poses!
Loved all but the one of Rusty nestling amongst the colorful leaves is extra lovely and gets the first prize!! ...your photographic skills are of the highest standards as ever.
It was great reading all about Rusty but I'm as depressed as you are to hear that your fostering days are soon going to end. What a tremendous loss to all those forlorn doggies waiting to get their turn with you and ofcourse a great loss to you too as all those fun times you had will not continue .Hope you do find some solution to this and you can spend some time other ways to bring some joy to them a few days of the week when your working hours will allow you to do so.Anyway whenever you do go over remember to take your camera along to click a few shots to share with us.Hope Rusty is improving in every way and his separation anxiety fears are getting better.Hope he finds a loving home soon. All the best
