staying away from the others was required in the olden days, since women may transmit bad odour/infection etc... but today that is not the case.. the old laws can be thrown away now..

This is the first time I got my periods at my MIL house. She has kept me separate from all house hold works for five days and I can perform pooja after 7 days.....
I don't fell good that she being an elder will do all work and I will sit and relax..... Why so........
    It is irritating me :bang

    hi friend anjalisingh,
dont worry, mostly in traditional orthodox hindu family, elders and mothers and mother in laws do keep away ladies for atleast 5 days during the menstrual times, its for because they need rest, and moreover its not proper for ladies to do pooja during that time. its a vedic traditional practice, nothing wrong in it. so keep urself cool, and take it easy, its not a irritating factor.

Don't feel guilty. She is the one forcing you to follow stone age traditions.if she has a problem...she will change her mind. You have fun and enjoy.
