Ticks thrive in moist, dark areas and in thick vegetation..They lie in wait on tall blades of grass or trees and attach themselves to a target (human or animal) as it walk by.

ticks like to feed around an animal's head and ears as well as in folds of skin (including the are between the toes). The longer a tick feeds, the greater the chance that it will transmit any diseases it is carrying. Finding and removing a tick withing 12 t 24 hours after it has begun feeding will reduce the chance of passing oninfectious desease..

Prevention is always the best approach to protect your pet from ticks. If you live in an area known to have ticks, keep your lawn mowed and vegetation neatly cut back. Keep your pet out of underbrush when he is out walking. Check him when he walks into wooded areas..

    Hi ! doggie owners,

There are special anti tick dog collars available in pet shops here. They can be worn every day ...they are made of some synthetic material and only about an inch in width. It can be worn along with the usual dog collar and comes in a fawn colour. They last well for 3 months. It helps a lot towards preventing tick infestations.
If you plan to walk along paths that have thick vegetation it will help if you apply thick coating of anti tick powder in the crevices of their paws in between and give a thorugh brushing after you return home.Infections that arise out of ticks can prove to be deadly if ignored for a long period of time.

    warm regards

    dear srini,
we get rid here which is a solution which u can apply in the last wash and leave it that way nothing comes near the dogs, it is a great help and the plant pesticide metacid is also good to spray around the house to keep away the ticks from entering the premises..the collar is wonderful news, never allow the dog to sleep in the bathroom which they do during summer have to see to that first..sunkan

    Hello all, :hiya

Thanks for all the information. Ticks are really a irritating being for all dog owners..... we could somehow prevent it, but once it comes, its a big task to completely remove it. I would like to add that there is a Shampoo - "Softas". It works well. Only that we cant use it for pups below 3 months & for Lactating dogs. Its usually available at all Pet Medical Stores.
