    Now I am bowled over, Racr.

    When I wrote it, I took a little attempt to make a mockery of myself and the choice that I have been using. Writing a snippet here is a choice. Right? :)

    Believe me! Amidst a busier schedule and a tiring work that I am right now in, such lavish appreciations, nice gestures and feedback which far surpass my work, make my day! Thanks a lot for being supportive and motivating me through out!

    Thank you very much Vijima for the nomination. It was a nice surprise when I came here to this forum. Wish you a speedy recovery from the cataract surgery and we shall wait to have you back with us very soon. :) You will surely be missed on this FP forum.

    Thanks a lot for nominating the http://www.indusladies.com/forums/snippets-of-life-non-fiction/220310-choice.html of RGS. If two stalwarts of IL nominate a thread, do I have a choice but to accept it? Isn't it ironical that RGS talks so much about choice without giving me a choice?! I would have been happy if this thread is straightaway declared a winner but then Kamla might like to examine her own choices!

    Seriously RGS has made a very significant observation that our life is a sum total of choices that we make from time to time. But the fact remains that if a man is totally goal oriented, he is less likely to be troubled by his choices than the one who is not very clear about his goal and wishes to have a choice there too. Viswa, I am inspired by your mention of Free Will. This is a line I have pursued in vain all my life. I would like to refer to the words of Nicholas of Cusa, a German philosopher of the 15th Century: 'Lord, Thou hast given me my being of such a nature that it can continually make itself more able to receive thy grace and goodness. And this power which I have of Thee, wherein I have a living image of Thine almighty power, is Free Will. By this I can either enlarge or restrict my capacity for Thy Grace'

    Choice has greater relevance to material decisions than spiritual. Our spiritual progress depends on our ability to narrow down the choices as we progress towards the ultimate goal. We have read in our mythological stories how the ancient sages went into penance for hundreds of years with their minds focused on just one goal. Pursuit of higher goals will reduce our choices one by one very rapidly. I have myself seen this difference. When I was in the Bank, my professional life was riddled with numerous choices and many of the decisions that I took were based on considerations which were not wholly honourable.

    But now materialism is fast vanishing into the background and I am not under any compulsion to exercise my choices any more. My pursuit now does not call for any choices to be made. This is indeed a happy state. I don't have to pace the floor furiously shouting 'To be or not to be!'

    Honoured I am, to receive a feedback from you Cheeniya Sir. And as always, you are adding a lot more information relevant to the topic and gently pointing to what I missed, in your fantastic observation. I really appreciate your continuous motivation to any and every one of us, who are lucky to have one of our threads nominated.

    Coming to the spiritual path or the person who already made his choice sometime earlier - isn't it obvious that their choice have made it to already reduce the number of further choices? And each choice from thereon is going to be aiding them in their growth, so thats beneficial. But the point where one should be aware is not to be drawn by the fringe benefits / small victories and hence get distracted. A large dose of luck and a suitable guidance along with the continuous effort will enable any person to be the pick of those who have choices, straigt away. Right? In the spiritual path, a guru helps us in choosing and he sure knows which way to reach the top. This much I could infer from your feedback Sir. Thanks! -rgs

    Happy to read this and I already feel that I've won it Kamla. And I would not be disappointed if not too, because I know that there are a lot of gems from which you got to choose from and for the time-being, this snippet is just that mirror that's bright because of many IL's attention.     I'm really overwhelmed by your response,Itsjustme and what you have gone through. The empathy and courage that you have shown in sharing your experiences in this thread moved me to tears! Kudos!

    I also wish to appreciate and applaud a mother's love for her daughter that made her create this thread,in search of ways to understand her daughter and make others understand her too. From one mom to another - I salute you Outofthebox!

    This thread has already been made a Sticky by Rakhii (thanks!),and I really hope that everyone reads this thread and contributes to it,if they have any inputs.

    Thanks to your nomination, I just got to read the thread http://www.indusladies.com/forums/schoolgoers-and-teens/220081-how-treat-deal-kids-having.html started by Outofthebox and the contribution that Itsjustme made there with her post, #22 along with her other posts therein.

    All of us are aware as to how difficult it is to bring up a child. Is that not why Motherhood is considered so highly by all of us? Add to that a child with some issues and every one of us can easily understand what a parent then goes through.

    Like you mentioned, it is easy for every loving mother to empathize with Outofthebox. But what we do not realize is that there are many around us who have gone through a difficult childhood and reading Itsjustme's frank admission to what she suffered growing up does melt one's heart...Especially, when even her parents were not aware of her predicament....

    A must read for every parent.
