This happened when my youngest son was around three years old. We were living at the first floor of a flat. Children were all playing going up and down.
Suddenly they all came and told me, " Aunty, Krishna had got his head stuck up in the railings." I ran and found his head stuck up and I tried to release his head, but he started crying. I was bewildered and my brain had become blank. Then an older boy who was just around 11 or 12 told me, "Aunty, instead of trying to release his head you push his body outside because he is thin and I will hold him from down." This suggestion worked wonderfully and I got him in one piece. When our near and dear ones are involved in an accident or emergency, our brain stops functioning. But when we are not involved in it, it works wonderfully, and I myself have experienced it. I will post it after I getting ILites feed back and experience.
    Love,
    Pushpavalli

So very true Pushpaji...maybe coz when it happens to a near n dear one...we tend to get panicky and are not able to think rationally...fear and undue thoughts start flooding our mind and hence we go blank.

    Roopa.

    Dear Pushpa
This is so true, our brains do not work when it is for our near and dear ones. We immediately panic, os it is always good to keep ourself calm. Ya it is easy to say but when it comes on oneself we realise. Human nature, but still we should learn to be calm in order to save our dear ones who r in trouble.

    It is true, Mrs.Pushpa....
At times of emergencies, our mind gets blank....

No offense to anyone...but i don't like the scenes in serials or cinemas, when the mom or dad hears any 'bad' news they become unconscious....then those people around should also take care of him/her...
If it shown that those persons act in a way that will help them come out of the situation, then it would be nice that everyone will feel that way...

In my situation, my son when he was around 1-2 years old, he climbed the stairs on the outside (because we had a gate blocking his action). He did this because he saw his sisters do the same for fun.
Ok, when I saw him for the first time, honestly, for a second, i was blank..but I thought whatelse I can add on the floor like carpets, blankets or even bed., in case he falls, when I went to get hold of him....
Luckily for us...he didn't let his grip off, till I came to his rescue...
I don't think I am calm...but what will be the use in creating a scene and frightening the child., who will let go off his grip..

I agree with Sriniketan about scenes from cinemas and serials.... anyways it is a drama/acting , so they show things which are exaggerated.

True, our mind goes blank due to panic.

    That's right, Pushpa!

Reminding me of several incidents. One being my kid put a very small ball kind of a hard thing in the nose and before I reached to take that out, my MIL who was standing by the side pressed the top portion and it came out.
