    Thank you, my dear kams.:)

[However, what is great is talking about another person's mother, and for this I admire you.

I so agree with all you have said but I also admit that this calmness came only with age.

The other thing I noticed is that you never compared your mil to your own mother or your home. Comparisons are so unhealthy, my experiences tell me.

Oh kams I tend to do the opposite sometimes :hide: and it lands me in trouble with my mom.I cant help it because I admire my MILs practical approach and wish others to learn from it.

My sentiments for my mil are similar to yours Mindi...no I am not a Scorpio :)

    :))) :cheers to that

I have gleaned some important lessons from your article too. Thank you.

now that makes me really happy for I always wonder if I am saying something that is going to be useful to others. I am sure you will make a lovely MIL as I know what a doting mom you are .:)

    Dear Mindi,
You have touched my heart by producing this great , lovable and wonderful post. What aflowof thoughts!! Seeing so many posts like " irritating the Mil and the thingsthat is happeniig only in inlaws I was feeling lowWhy small things irritate them ? Then read your post .It came as a breeze. In abrilliant manner you have pointed out your MIL's good qualities. I remember a saying"

Be kind to your mother-in-law the same way you would like your husband to be kind to your own mother'I was aDil and now I am MIL,Having met with some unpleasantary things as aDIL I took an oath that I should not stand as a hindrance tp my DILS to prove their talents, smartness. This I want to share with you all and never think I am blowing my own trumpet. When my grand daughter was born I took charge of looking after her since my sambhandhi does not know anything. When the angel reaches two years, one day My son seeing me becoming tired said,:Amma I will ask your Dil to leave the job because you become so tired looking after all the things and you are not allowing to keep a nanny also".I looked at him and told him this"Why she should leave the job?You also have the duty so why can't you leave the job and look after the baby"There was a pin drop silence .My Dil andhugged me withtears in her eyes . That spoke volumes about her affection and respect she is having for me. One day I hope she will also write like you Mindi! Just kidding . I have done this what a mother should do for my satisfaction.I will end up my long post with this tribute to your MIL.

    You make the "in-law"
    Part drop away
    For you, Mother is
    A better word to say

    Dear kamla,

this post was more for my Mri since she has never seen this grandma :) Just jotted down all the nice things that I remembered about her.

we too go through life and the motions of motherhood, we are in a better mental state to understand the mother in an in-law.

That is very true . Today I definitely understand her much better.

Your post has put me into a nostalgic mood and I am thinking of my 'Amma' and her influence on me and my family.
I guess I was in one nostalgic mood too after my short visit to India and it has been more than twenty years since she passed away.:)

Dear Mindi...that was such sweet post about ur MIL.

This is one of the first things my MIL told me... whatever happens between us stays between us(Las vegas style)...and she kept her word. In any social gathering when other MILs go :rant about their DIL..my MIL stays out of the conversation and simply says .."I have two daughters ..I don't have any DIL ..so I dont have much to say."
She is a very sweet lady and I am incredibly blessed to have her in my life.
