    Hi moms

Howabt using formula opened for a month. Can i use it after a month of opening bcos it says that we should finish using within a month. Its costly right and i dont want to waste it. Or can i make powders into drinkable form and store in fridge by which can i store for long time, is it advisable. I am b.fg now so i dont regularly use formula and i keep that only for emergency.

    Hi,
Once a can is opened u should use it within a month or just throw it.As a general rule, it is safe to refrigerate prepared formula in a sealed container for up to 24 hours. If baby starts feeding the formula it should be finished in an hour throw out any formula left in the bottle after feeding.
Since you are planning on formula feeding only once in a while i would suggest you to get ready to feed 2oz bottles. They r handy for travel and we will be opening only 2oz at a time so it hardly gets wasted.Hope this helps.

If you are not feeding formula regularly, better buy single serve packets as dallascw says.Try to avoid refregerating the prepared formula because if you make it warm again, chances r there to get spoiled and check how hot it is?microwaving the prepared formula is not also advisable.so prepare freshly, and feed him immedieately..........

    Hi chikilkutti,
You can find Similac and Enfamil in Walmart,Target, babiesrus etc.., almost all grocery shops here carry formula. The formula comes with preparation instruction .I'am not sure which is close to Lactogen, you should consult a pediatrician here before starting on any new formula. They will guide you with the best formula that is suitable for ur baby.Even Similac and Enfamil carry different types like the regular one, sentitive,Soy based etc..,
Please do not give Whole milk or Vit D milk ,its not recommended till the baby is a year old.

Nestle is also a good option, last time when i bought it i came to know that all baby products are tax free, before i was not aware of that. Not sure abt US but here in canada it's tax free.

I heard from my mother in law U can make Gulab Jamun, if formula is not finished in a mth. But i'm not sure.
