    Hi,

I suffered a missed miscarriage at end of 12th week in feb last week. It was my first pregnancy after a 2.5 yrs ttc struggle..

Can somebody tell me how soon after the d n c I should take diagnostic tests to find any possible causes...and if there is a list of tests suggested after a missed m/c

I have to find a new doctor and hence struggling to find answers

    Take care n god bless

I have a friend who has been suggested taking HCG injections, but I am not sure about the result as it may be different for everyone and you need to take advice from your doctor before trying this or any other suggestion.

    Dear luckyme,

I had a miscarriage 2 days after my 16th week completion, but i guess it was a missed miscarriage and it would have happened 2-3 days back.

I didnt have a dnc but a suction evacuation as everything was expelled with the bleeding in my case.

There were histopathology tests done on the foetus which reported no issue.

After 6 weeks of the miscarriage,I did the following blood tests.

    1. 75gms Glucose tolerance test
    2.TSH
    3.Anti Cardiolipin antibody
    4.Lupus Antibody

Usually the antibody tests are done if there are recurrent miscarriages ,but its good to do it now, as it identifies clotting disorders if any.

In my case, they have not been able to identify the exact cause but Incompetent cervix seems to be a possibility. have insulin resistance also because of mild PCOS.

Lets be hopeful and pray to god to bless us.

Did u conceive after taking some treatment or was it natural conception? I had a natural conception on a non medicated cycle of IUI.

    HI luckyme,
i am very very sorry for ur loss, even i suffered a missed miscarriage last year,so i know how u ll feel, but when i asked my doctor about testing she said they will not do any testing for 1 or 2 miscarriage history..,so generally they say it may be a chromosomal abnormality with the fetus...,but there are series of test available for both mother and the fetus, and even for the couple they used to do karyotyping test, but generally doctor says if u had 1 or 2 miscarriage the chance of having a healthy pregnancy next time is still 80% so don t worry,by the way do u have PCOS problem?if so its the major issue causing miscarriage, because the quality of egg will not be good with women having PCOS....so just put ur mind at rest ...one miscarriage really does t not mean any problem with u or ur DH,so hold on and try ur TTC after 3 months but start taking Folic acid(both u and ur DH),along with complete B12 tablet, hope u ll get to hold ur LO soon, lots of baby dust to u..:)

    Ruchita,

I was already taking hcg injections weekly

    Pursuehappiness,

Even I m told that the cause cannot be clearly assessed in most cases..but I want to go for tests fto rule out some of the potential causes...

I was off any ttc treatments from last 1.5 yrs...and conceived naturally...
I had done follicular study, laproscopy, medicated cycles and 3 iuis before....I used to be under stress in the 2 ww and same with my husband...both of us wanted a break as the fertility was unexplained...

Thanks for mentioning all the tests clearly...I have noted them all

finding a positive hpt n then going thru a loss is like an emotional roller coaster.. No words can explain the pain....
Loads of wishes for success next time...

    God bless

I completely can understand what you are feeling as I felt the same thing. We are also in the unexplained category and I conceived after 3 years of TTC. lap,IUI, everything, nothing worked and then surprisingly I conceived on a non medicated cycle of IUI with no medicines and just washed sperms.

I left my job when I was carrying as I thought it would be safer and was very relaxed and resting. So it was a huge shock when this happened considering that everything was going good and fine.

All I can say is that it was bad luck ,and we can only hope that since it happened once, it will happen again and soon.

I agree with saran that blood tests and causes are tried to be found out only in recurrent miscarriages but just for our satisfaction and peace of mind, we can eliminate these causes by doing a blood test.
Also they say that miscarriage which happens in the first trimester is usually to do with the foetus ,probably chromosomal abnormality as the first 3 months are when the baby grows and vital organs are formed. 2 trimester miscarriages are usually to do with the mother's health.

Was your NT scan done and did they do a histopathology test on the foetus?

Dear, I can understand that no amount of analysis is going to be comforting and till today I sit in front of god and cry asking him why he did it after giving it after 3 years of struggle. But we have to continue and hope that conception will happen again.

    Take care dear, god bless.

    Saran

I did go thru ur thread...hugs to u dear...

Even my doctor told me the same thing.....I have already turned 33 this yr...after 35 they say that age becomes a major contributing factor for m/cs...so i m not willing to take any risk for the next attempt....

I don't know if I have PCOS....my doc never told me so..but I read one of my old report of laproscopy (had it in 2010)..and it does mention 'polycystic ovaries'....I dunno if that is PCOS..but my doc never gave me any medicines for it and I had ovulated every cycle that was monitored..and I have no history of cysts....

will ask the new doctor about it once I m in ttc phase again...

    Take care n god bless

    Dear luckyme

    Sorry about your loss.
Diagnostic tests are already suggested by our il friends. But each case is different. Did you get your D & C report what did the doctor say.
Generally people conceive naturally within 6 months of D & C. Chances of conception are very high.
Take good rest -relax and eat & stay healthy.
Next time you will surely say "LUCKY ME" and you will hold lovely lo in your arms.

Will keep you in the prayers.

    Hi Lucky me,
You might need to wait for 2-3 cycles before starting the TTC. This break will give the deserved break for the body to recover fully. Have a word with your gynec too! Take care dear.
Soon this phase will pass dear. Hold on. Stay strong. Take care dear.

    Luckyme

I dont know if its appropriate, but which DR were you consulting in Pune..

Since you are looking to change Dr, If you dont mind, may I suggest you to go to Dr Sachin Jadhav in Gupte hosp in deccan ??

I found my success with him after 6 IUI, 2 IVF...before 2nd IVF he did tests on ALA, GCA etc to check blood hormones whether it impedes with implantation and also GTT, and TNF Alpha test..

Both me and Swati were given IV saline treatment and he mentioned that if TNF alpha value is high, even after conception, chances of MC are there if not taken care of...
