Congratulations arty: Keep it up :clap .... . Just carry a fully charged cellphone so he can call you if needed and he need not be panicking at work. (always pull over safely and only then answer calls ) Anyway weekend is coming. Drag him out and you drive while he sits nearby
My case is opposite to all of you. DH badly wants me to learn driving, but I don't even know to ride a cycle. :hide: And I freak out when he says driving. I have the written test today, I hope I can clear it and I liked the idea of desi instructor, will tell DH.
mg:I was like you. I too don't know how to ride a bicycle. On our first drive, my DH assumed I knew it( he thought i watch him closely while he's driving)and i was driving at 5mph and even the kids in the neighborhood kept laughing..poor me:hide:.. However I cleared my written test and got my license after 2 attempts. I used to drive in small town to work even when i was 8months pregnant. After the baby, we sold our 2nd car and i stopped driving. I still dread to drive despite my license. I don't drive when my DH is in car. He freaks out and freaks me out.:rant This summer i would take this as my challenge:cheers, as i am done with his comments.
Just be confident and try to go for driving on your own on roads with less traffic. With practice you will be a good driver
Same pinch,FreeSpirit20! The written test is easy..I have given it twice over a year(as my permit expired). The second time,I was literally bulldozed by HH(Hitler H) into giving the test for the permit. I also don't know how to drive a cycle:hide: .Take my advice...DON'T drive with your H until you are super confident. I regret till date!
:hatsoffI have been driving for 12 years now, my husband still says i don't know how to drive, where i have driven more than 400 miles alone at the time of vacation to meet friends. Now when he make a comment about not stopping fully, not looking left right or center or blah blah blah.. i say... "This is not Indian government, You are not Sonia Gandhi or I'm not ManMohan Singh.. I will drive the way I know and i like, You don't need to be a side seat Driver.
Thanks racr and lathangi. I gave the written test last year in June, cleared in 3 rd attempt and DH taught me few times but I was nervous every time and our visa also got expired in the mean time, so I could not continue. I went to give the written test again last week and was again nervous but thankfully they simply extended the learners permit without an exam. ;-) It expires in 4 months and DH said he will call an instructor to teach driving, I hope we find some desi one, anyway there is no other go as DH said we will go on long road trips only after I learn driving.
Guess what, today was day 4 of solo driving. I cant believe it. Honestly my only source of motivation is all of you who encouraged me on this thread. After the first day, DH got some confidence on me. In fact he was very surprised that I boldly took the car and successfully came back despite his non-cooperative movement Now he has got used to the idea that I too can drive. I am taking baby steps but improving by the day. Thank you all dearies!
