Loves it when people tell her she does not look like the mother of a 40-year-old son and that my Fil looks way older than her....Will always ask people to guess her age....Funnily someone recently told her she looked like she was in her late 70's and madam was highly offended.... and hates that person...she's actually 70. I once told a friend about this and my friend kept telling my mil "Oh Aunty, you look so young....how old are you 45- 50" not surprisingly madam was blushing :) Oh this is only the beginning....I want to give others a chance too and not hijack this post

My Mother in Law always thinks she is very stylish than me. she always wears all dazzling stuff (shoes, purses,saress..etc) I run far far away from stuff like that. Once Dh gifted me a pair of sandals (he has the same great taste from his mom) so those sandals are gold colored with lots of stones.

MIL didn't know that DH gifted me. so when she came to visit me she said wow you are getting better at dressing sense. you are wearing shoes similar to my shoe collection:bonk :bonk :bonk She means no Harm but still she is so funny:bonk

*) My MIL thinks she is a great cook.
Sorry girls!! I dont want to intrude into her imagination
*) She takes more than 30 mins to get ready if we have to out:hiya. But me in 10 mins (Plait my hair and change the dress:bonk)
My DH always points out that " Anyways you dont take a long time to get ready"
Please help me in figuring out if this is a compliment or sarcastic :hide:

My MIL is very calculative.....!! she talks each and everything in terms of money.... :bowdown

    One such instance:
whenever we prepare idli at home.. while having it.. when DH says that he is full, don't want anymore...that he had 8 idlies already...!!
    she will start..
"see she (pointing at me) brought this batter for rupees 35/-.. from that prepared 48 idlis..
come on...you just had of only 6-7 rupees...!!!! (considering each idli for 70 ps)..
    have some more.... "
    Initially I would be like.... :confused2: :confused2: :confused2:
    and
now... have a good laugh with DH in privacy regarding the value that's inside his tummy.....!! :rotfl:rotfl

Hmmm well my mom in law is not really a pest. But she keeps jst too many secrets.and one such secret is her age
So one day my SIL called up to say that this time when v all get back to india (v all live in middle east) we will celebrate my MIL's 60th b'day. We were happy but when SIL called up MIL to tell her about the plan...MIL was furious...my SIL got good amount of firing from hershakehead.
Then 2 yrs later once i had gone with MIL to a doctor. There the doctor asked her age before prescribing the medicines. She very casually said 58(by then she ws 62)...and i was shell shocked...the doctor looked at me may be because he could see the effect of shock on my face...hihihi:rotfl

One more incident..2-3 weeks after our marriage one day my MIL told me that in my SIL's house, its my SIL's mom in law who sits in the front seat if SIL's husband was driving the car.I got it that she didnt want me to sit in the front seat with my husband when she was in the car.So that day when we were going out my mom inlaw purposely sat in the back seat to test me...so i like an obedient DIL i joined her in the back seat.My husband was furious and refused to drive the car saying" i dont want to look like a driver"...and started the car only after i sat with him...my MIL was not just embarrassed by her son's reaction but was also left red faced :oops:when she saw me sitting with her son:rotfl...hahaha...till then she didnt knw i have my own ways of getting things done;-)...after that she has never given me such silly advices

Well, I was once grinding spinach in kitchen (in MIL's absence) and as the boiled spinach was hot, it spilled out of the jar once I switched on the grinder and fell on the kitchen slab. I cleaned it but later when MIL came back home she gave me a long lecture on how careful I should be while using grinder for spinach. :spin

After few days we boiled spinach again and MIL told me that today she show how to use the grinder for spinach.
She filled the spinach in the jar and showed me how to close it properly and switched on the grinder. And guess what, the moment she switched it on, the spinach came out of the jar and got spilled on the kitchen wall, slab, MIL's face and clothes!! HAHAHAHAHAH :rotfl:biglaugh

I wanted to laugh so badly, but had to hide it and show care and concern as she had put green chilies in spinach while boiling it. We ended up cleaning the whole mess and her face was worth watching! Later I went to my bedroom and laughed a lot on this colorful lecture session! :biggrin2::rotfl

    Hi veeramachaneni,

'she said wow you are getting better at dressing sense. ' he he :) real funny..
I too hate dazzling stuffs.. but luckily my MIL also doesn't like them.. so I am escaped..

We are living in city whereas my MIL is based out of village. After our marriage only she has come to stay with us in city for the 1st time. But she feels that dresses and all other stuffs are far better in her village than our city. For eg, I bought her a cool synthetic saree very gud in quality, after receiving which she said 'this saree could be bought in our village for jus rs.100' :bonk :bonk :bonk
