    hi,

Potpourri is a mixture of dried, naturally fragrant plant material, used to provide a gentle natural scent in houses. It is usually placed in a decorative wooden bowl, or tied in small bags made from sheer fabric.check this site.

I have seen people keeping them in living rooms and even it is kept in bathrooms& toilets for the fragrance and as a decorative item.

    hi,
pot pourri is an assortment of fragrant dried flowers and even barks or wood shavings of fragrant plants.fragrant oils are also added. u get a lot of synthetic ones also...

it gives out a nice fragrance to the entire room where it is kept, but it works better and lasts longer in closed rooms...since you are in chennai, where we keep our windows open, it will be more effective if u use it in an ac room...

u can get good pot pourri from a store called sixth sense in chennai.they have a very good collection. they have a store in sardar patel road, adyar. (i think they have one in spurtank road, chetpet too...am not sure) . or you can check in stores like landmark...

    rgds,

    hello friends...

    make our own
    Dry Potpourri:

Select a theme for the scent such as woodland of country garden, and assemble paper-dry flowers and leaves. Gently combine the flowers and leaves, then mix the fixative with the spices and blend in with your hands. Sprinkle on essential oils if desired a drop at a time, stirring between each drop. Seal and store in a warm, dry, dark place for six weeks to “cure”. Display however you like. Enjoy!!!!
