    Dear Sravani
Sorry I missed your name. I think I have interacted with you a couple of times on other threads.
    Welcome welcome welcome!
Were you in New Jersey before? I may be confusing you with someone else. If so, disregard.

    Hi Magee
I don't think you can use metals in the Microwave.
So far I have used only corning ware, and specialized glass and of anything that says it is microwave safe.
Did you go thru the user guide that comes with the microwave? You can also check the manufacturer's website for more information.

    Magee,

Am using oven on daily basis here in USA since couple of years.
You've to buy microwave oven able vessels to use in it.

    Here you go:

Choosing cooking vessels and equipment when using microwave oven

Ceramic, glass, or plastic containers are best for cooking with microwave oven. Make sure that any plastic containers are made specifically for microwave oven use; if not, they may melt. Also, use dishes that contain not traces of metal, including the trim and handles. If using plastic wrap or paper towels, be sure that they are clearly labeled as safe to use in a microwave oven.

Avoid using the following containers in a microwave oven: polystyrene (such as foam coffee cups and take-out dishes); glass bottles; cans; metal pots (or anything metal, for that matter); wooden bowls; mugs or ceramic ware with glued-on handles; and plastic storage containers that are not specifically intended for microwave use.

    Dear Magee

I think we cannot use metal vessels in MW..i usually use either rubbermaid bowl, glass bowls.
While getting bowls, you can check for MW safety..good luck

    Nanimom,

Did you watch the movie? People say thats a nice movie. Whats your opinion? Hope you had enjoyed your kushiyo kushi week end.

    Prana,

When you start writing again, you will have more topics in your mind, like enjoyable moment with your kid, etc. Start to Note down now itself.

    Magee,

I started with MW safe vessels, then I bought Currimbhoy's Glass vessels. I prefer Glass vessels though handle with care.

    Anitha,

Glad that you relaxed and enjoyed with your family. From your tamil slang, I can understand how much you are longing for our festivals.

Some error happened in my previous post to Lakshmi. Unable to edit, as edit option button is not seen particularly for this post. If anybody could report this post, moderators will do that. Thanks.

    Friends,

Yesterday did thidhi for my mil. After that, prepared Breakfast, washed DH formal wears, prepared lunch, had a quick rest, then had lunch and left for the bridal make-up.

"Expect the unexpected " is the lesson I learnt. Though I reached in time, bride was not reached mandap. Then the power was off. Generator not working. Raghukalam was nearing, we wanted to start before that. But the mandap was tooooooo dark, could not even see the people faces properly. So I had no other option, only to wait for the power.

Finally power came by 4.25, started doing. First I planned to finish off by 5.30 or 6, and to leave . I had even finished in time, But people made me to sit to change the second saree after getting blessed by the elders. But as usual, they didnt give me time to wear properly, but I had to.....only one tubelight in the bride room, ac not worked, could not even check the final make-up properly, they pulled out the Bride to the stage. I cant help it.

Reached home by 9. (So 3pm-9pm) I was with them. But less pay, as she was my DH's colleague.

I usually wont go to the mandap, if it is done in my parlour means, all these tensions will be avoided.

    Sorry for the long post.

    Friends,

my weekend was great. We had taken the kids to a kids exhibition. They had lots of activities like coloring, pottery, book stalls etc. Kids loved and enjoyed it. Evening was very relaxing me and DH were watching some movie in TV and other talk shows also. Re-arranged the wardrobes also. Did some changes (re-arranging the microwave, OTG, rice cooker) in the kitchen. As ours is a transferable job, we can't do any major repairs. I keep changing / re-arranging as per my convenience often.

Kids will be having 2 days holidays this week, so not an active week. I will have to plan my week according to them.

Have a great week ahead gals

    shara

@ magee how was the dinner for your guests? I can see the enthusiasm in baking and utilising microwave.

@latha mam we need not tell you, you will have good experience, cheer up mam. All these are lessons in business.

@sravani good planning for the week. you were mentioning about changing the foil paper on stove/gas stop. Can you explain / post the photo of the same.

@ anitha We too miss all these, but i console myself we are within India, but there are many abroad. But i have seen, as we are outside tamilnadu, we have to take extra efforts in planning for festivals like i got all the agal vilakkus during diwali time itself, as i will not get it now. Even the pori i had to search for nel pori on saturday. I got it. When we were in Italy for few months my DDs first b'day we couldn''t go to any temple. Wherever we turn it was only churches. We went to a church in Venice on that day. Its all part of life. Cheer up girl

@prana take your own time in writing stories, now it is time to enjoy and concentrate with kids.

@ Nanimom how was the movie?

    Hi to all other friends

    shara
