    Dear Dr Preethi

I am not pregannt but am under fertility treatment and am doing my IVF now as we speak

I have teeth pain since last week and was diagnosed with cavities in 3rd mlar extending into the roots/ gums. I have been advised ectraction by a 'dental surgeon' as my dentist says its difficult for dentist to remove 3rd molar. please advise me if this is the norm ?

But since it was Diwali, none of the dental surgeons were available.

another issue is I have my embryo transfer (ET) tomm and my teeth work today eve...(i wanted t do it before the transfer and tday is the earlist to do it as per appointment)

my qn is if the dental work requires stitces, I will have diet restrictions? But i have been advised to have heavy breakfast tomm for my ET...How to resolve this...and will I recover from pain by tomm early noon??

i just hope it doesnt impact ET/ implantation...I dint want to do dental work after ET / BFp..

Dr SJ has given a written NoC to dental surgeon, he has only asked / prescibed some diff antibiotic...

    hi ssm

I agree with swati.I too had wisdom tooth removed more than a year back. I could not eat proper food for 2 weeks. I felt miserable not able to eat anything. And when we are in antibiotics we need to eat well.As a sideeffect of all this my menstrual cycles got completely messed up for 2 cycles. I mean not eating and starving had such an impact on my body. If you can wait or get some temporary fix until pregnancy and delivery avoid tooth removal. but if thers no other go then dont worry leave things to god. Try ideas where you can eat nutrient rich food in liquid form. that will help.have good rest and takecare.
All the best for your dental work and ET!!!!

    SSM,

I am sorry for the delayed reply. I somehow was tied up with some personal work..

Dental treatment ' during ' IVF meaning the initial stages is ok. I wouldnt advise it just with a day to embryo transfer. Simply because the anesthesia and dietary restrictions and physical pain all come to picture.

Please go ahead with the antibiotics for now and also wait out till your treatment is complete.

Best Luck and lotts of baby dust to you !

    Dear All

    Thanks for all your replies..

i finally had my teeth removed, luckily the visiting dental surgeon who came from another city for my proc was very good.. he made me very comfortable, allied my fears and removed my 3rd molar yde eve but didnt not go for stitches as he first studied my case (IVF) and my gynaec's note.

I have some discomfort and I know it wont go away soon, but it is much lesser than what DH went thru during his teeth removal 2-3 ms back..dentist has recommended antibiotic based n gyneac recommendation...

I am hoping my ET today noon is also smooth and I get my much desired result....please d keep me in ur prayers..

    Hi,

I am 32 weeks pregnant and started feeling sensitivity in my teeth. I am pretty sure I need to redo my previous filling.
But I am scared to do it now. If I dont do it now and wait for another 2 months till my DD is born..I was wondering if you can fill your teeth while breast feeding. In US even for teeth filling they give anesthesia and antibiotics etc??

    what do u guys suggest.
