    Re: Cost of living Metros

    Hi,
It depends on number of people and your life style too....
If you have your own house in the city, I guess it would be much less with expenses.

    Regards.

    hi honneyj,

Presently i am staying in sanjose.before i was in hyderabad.
compare to other metro cities hyderabad is the best and cheapest place to stay.
the rents are also ok when compare to other metros.

I garee with Puni88. Cost of living mainly depends on your lifestyle.

Also, HoneyJ, rentals depend on the area of the city/outskirts, size of the apartment, amenities etc., so no one can exactly give an idea on this issue.

But for other items like grocery, car maintenance, gas, insurance, phone, Inet, cell, cable etc., there are tons of things that vary from city to city.

I believe next to Bombay, Banglore is the second costliest, Chennai third and Hyderabad is the least expensive..

But again, if you own an apartment/house in Chennai, other expenses are comparable to Hyderabad.

As I live away from India long, I would love to have an idea too about the approximate cost of living in Chennai..as I will be moving back to Chennai in a couple of years.

Eagerly waiting to hear from our dear Chennaiites,
    GPriya.

cost of living cannot be generalised...it depends on your lifestyle, the number of people etc as others have rightly said...but i wud think it will be delhi bombay bangalore chennai pune hyderabad...in that order....delhi being most expensive and hyd the cheapest...

Mumbai cost of living is very very high. For a family of three atleast an income of min 30,000 is required to live a decent living. It does not involve holidaying etc..

We are two of us, living in Pune in a 1 BHK. Roughly, our monthly expenses are stated below. I have not jotted down our expenses earlier in such a systematic manner as I am now doing, but I think I can remember all the categories. Let me begin..

    Rent - 9500
    Food & all food-related (including milk,oil,salt & everything) - 4000
    Other groceries - 1000
Petrol - 500 (my hubby has a Hero Honda bike & I own a moped, I don't use it much as I am home)
    Electricity - 400
    Dish TV - 300
    Internet - 1200
    Maid - 600
    Laundry - 100
    Movies/Eating out - 1000

Well... this is it. But there are many other expenses like buying new clothes, sundry ones like photocopies/courier etc etc... I think total monthly expenses for a couple with no kids would be around Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 per month.

I live in bangalore with my hubby and in-laws.Its very much costly in bangalore. We would def require a min of 25K to run the family neatly without any extra purchase or outings.
We are basically from chennai and comparing the rates i can say that bangalore is very much costly compared to most of the other metros.
Everything is costly in bangalore..even the basic aminities and is absolutely not upto the quality.
    Poor quality but more price.
I feel it is not the same in any other metro..My friends who have been in mumbai, delhi and bangalore say that mumbai, delhi is costly but atleast you get the quality for that price.
