Here in Dubai we have a Special Families Support Group which meets with each other often and they help in suggesting good doctors, speech therapists. You can find them on facebook too. It is a helpful group.I hope you have one also in the place where you are.

if it is not severe nothing to worry.they can live independently.dont go for allopathic medication.homeopathy is good for such disorders. Months back my dd was diagnosed with mild ADHD and undergone 6 months of homeopathic treatment. Result was wonderful. thank god.she is improving day by day. when i went to india given her 2 months of speech therappy. from there only she started speaking. still she is not joining words.but expressing every thing as other kids. improved imagination,imitation skills ,trying to tell rhymes,improved concentration.
when i left india after the vecation 70% of my baggage was toys not just teddy bears and puppies but dozens of puzzles,and brain development toys(nesting eggs,building blocks,beads n thread,star links stacking cylinders etc etc) and i have given her right brain education.and now i am homeschooling her. montessori and shichida type schooling.daily doing brain exercises(brain gym).i include her in each n every household activities(cooking,cutting vegies,cleaning,etc etc).regularly taking her out for play group,rhymes n story telling,play ground,at least once in two days i visit my friends who have similar age kids.

i would like to know this too....who is taking care of her kid in her abscence.no one is better than mom.

I am also going through such a phase as your friend.Still not done the evaluation for autism for my child.So far he has a speech delay and he is improving.I pray to god for your friend and her kid.

I was not at all happy when i was pregnant.I used to take a lot of stress for silly matters.Thats what i feel has affected my kid in this way.Should never take stress .Also tell to your friend to not to take stress and show stress and anger on kid(maybe she is not showing but still my view since i don't know her).I used to do that with mine.And he used to be so adamant and cranky.I have changed myself a lot.I talk to him in calm words (even if they don't listen)and shower him my love(i know all mom does).But never ever show the stress.
