    Sri Ramakoti Likhita Japam

The Paramacharya of Kanchi, HH Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswati Swamigal, always encouraged His followers to write the Rama Naamam as many times as possible (Likhita Japam). Let us plan to write a few pages so as to earn the merit of writing the Rama Naamam for at least a few 1000 times in our lives.

Why Should I write the Raama Naamam?

    - It is said that the word "Ram" is more powerful than the Lord Himself. Lord Hanuman could accomplish the impossible by simply uttering the Divine name of Lord Ram.

    - Scriptures state that those who shed their mortal coil in Varanasi (Kashi) will never have to take birth again. Puranas have stated that during the last moments of one's life in Kashi, Lord Shiva initiates the jiva (soul) with Rama mantram, hence helping him get rid of his future births.

    - "Ra" is the agni beejam and "Ma" is the amrita beejam. "Ra" indicates the destroyer of ignorance in humans while "Ma" indicates the praana vaayu being nourished. Hence, the great composer, Thyagaraja Swami, a huge devotee of Lord Ram, often stressed on these beejams in his compositions.

    - The Rama naamam activates the Kundalini shakti.

    - Continuous repetition of Rama nama discourages people to commit sins and induces in them the qualities of Lord Ram Himself.

    - "Dharmo Rakshati Rak****ha:" is a well known saying for everyone who is born in Sanatan Dharma. Scriptures hailed Lord Ram as "Ramo Vigrahavaan Dharma:", meaning "Ram is the personification of Dharma". Our country, the Karma Bhoomi, where numerous Saints were born and the Lord Himself descended, is today struggling under the atrocities committed by power-thirsty, adharmic religions, through terrorist attacks and mass conversions by means of pure deceit, funded extensively by international organizations to endanger and extinguish Sanatan Dharma. It is our responsibility to do our part, in a Dharmic way, to protect our culture. What can be more potent than chanting the name of Lord Ram in this age of Kali ?

    - Most importantly, the Kanchi Paramacharya, HH Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswati Swamigal, always recommended His followers to write the Rama Naama. The Guru's words are always full of ambrosia.

Where Can I write the Raama Naamas ?

    - The links to a couple of online pdf documents that can be printed are given in this blog.

    - To make the writing more interesting, one can use color pens and write in patterns. Samples of these patterns are produced in this blog.

    - The outlines of Sri Ramachandra and Hanuman can also be used and the Raama Naamas can be filled in by embellishing them with color pens. This will be an interesting activity for kids too.

    - If you can get hold of Rama Koti books from India, that would be even better. They are readily available in leading book stores and stationery shops.

How should I write the Raama Naamas ?

    - It is difficult to follow stringent rules to write the Raama naama when all the members of the household are either employed or studying. So a very few, simple rules, can be followed.

    - It is mandatory to take bath and wear fresh clothes while writing the Rama Naamas.

    - Offer a small prayer to Ganapathi, to a Guru, to Lord Ram and to Lord Hanuman before commencing the Likhita Japa.

    - Start writing the Rama naama by simultaneously saying it out loud, so that you may reap the benefit of writing, mental repetition, as well as oral repetition of the Lord's names. We spend 24 hours a day to think and talk about everything that is not permanent. Let us spend a few minutes solely for Rama Naama Japam.

    - Write as many names as possible. There are no specific rules on how many times the names must be written per day. You can set aside at least 5-10 mins each day for this Divine task.

    - One can write "Sri Rama", "Rama" or "Ram" in either English or in their own native languages.

What should I do after I complete writing the Raama Naamas ?

    - You can give it in a temple or organization near you that accepts Rama Naama Likhita Japam papers for use in homas.

    - You can send it directly to Kanchi Matham as they accept the Ramakoti books.

    - Temples that are being newly constructed accept such books to lay them as a part of the foundation of the "dhwaja-sthambam" to energize it with the power of the Lord's names.

-The Akhila Bharata Srirama Nama Koti Lekhana Maha Sangam (2-2-1144/14/2, New Nallakunta, Hyderabad - 500 044) accepts these books. The Sangham runs a temple of Lord Ram and needs such books. The Secretary of this Sangham, A.V.S. Sastry can be contacted at 040-7560688.

    Dear Bharathi Sister,

    Om sairam

Recently on an auspicious occassion BABA blessed us with a RAMANAMA book welcoming us at a BABA temples' entrance. We are truly blessed. Baba has also sent us the significance of Rama Nama through you, his leelas are really great

Though in childhood we had practice of writing and chanting RAMANAMA, slowly that habit has diminished, after getting the book the other day I have planned to start it all over again, though i have started from the next day, could not keep up, now BABA has reassured through your message. Thanks to BABA for always being there with us and guiding us.

    Bow to Guru Sai
