Want to take Laptop from USA to India, how to plug it in

    I need to take laptop from USA to India, but I hear that if you plug in your laptop in India, the laptop will get busted :drowning


    Is there a type of transformer I can buy. What type of transformer to buy. Please help!!!!!!!

    you will get a plug adapter in india like the below pic.you can get it everywhere and the price is also very less.

    No need of transformers. Just take the socket thing shown in sapnahyd post. They are not adapter but socket changers.

    USA voltage ia 110V and India voltage is between 210 to 230 volts. Also Sockets in India are different than in usa.

    On the charger of the laptop there should be input and output voltage. Generally all laptop or laptops chargers come with built in transformers ( they mention something like input voltage 110 to 230V etc. Check the laptop charger)

    You just need the socket pin and you are good to go.

    If you go to any electrical shop in India and ask them for voltage converter you will get it. Tell them its for US to India volts converter. It will usually be like 50 rupees. You can get a few and keep it.

    If you are concerned about the voltage problem, laptops, camera battery chargers etc are mostly are made to handle dual voltage, like from 110v to 230v. So it can be used in any part of the world. Please check the specifications. You'll just need the right socket pin.

    You can also buy a laptop adapter in india. I bought a new powercord+adapter for my Dell laptop bought from USA.It works fine.

    We bought 2 laptops from the US vand neverhadany problem.just bought the socket changer for the plug.
    these days all the laptops come with inbuilt transformers and i dont think there should be any problem.

    We also get that adapter in Indian electronic shops here in USA.

    i got the universalmulti pin for the laptop and it works fine!
