    hi folks

I'm not sure if this is relevant here, but I remembered this cute incident while reading Dancer's post-my child brought home her friends after play, opened the fridge wide and asked their preference - pink, orange, yellow or green (she was offering them Poppins peppermints) and this kid answered rather promptly-Just give the one that tastes good! Wish our choices in life-in education, spouse, employment, place to settle down..are as simple and as less complex as that kid's reply.

I would have preferred it if you had clarified that I quoted a magazine to say that I did not approve of it. I am sure you are referring to my thread http://www.indusladies.com/forums/s...7082-mirror-mirror-liar-liar.html#post2381240

Please do not compare my post to OP's post. I will consider it a personal insult. :)

The OP claims that she wrote about things happening around her. But if you read her post, the tone of her post tells that she is giving her opinions ....about which...let us not even go there.

I would prefer that my words not be used to prove a point when in fact I meant the exact opposite. So please I request you to quote my posts with more clarity.

Please read the responses of people in that thread...(yes some of them belong to op's age group) and see how they know to write without hurting others. Age / exposure/ education has nothing to do with this.

    Thanks.

May be beautiful people get treated better.
But that does not mean "not so beautiful" people can be insulted.

    BIG DIFFERENCE.

Edit: FYI- Some people might not have good intentions. But they know the knack of political correctness......atleast be politically correct and hide the not so nice things...:thumbsup ...yes a white washed tomb is better.

    Godisone,

I have written so much about being respectful while disagreeing, my thoughts on discrimination, social systems and the experiences (and hurt too) that I have gone through in life. Yet you choose to pick out the few sentences that just stand out in your mind and use it to comment on me.

First of all, what you know about me is what I have chosen to share through the forum. In real life, I may be a far better or far worser person than what I seem to be here.

I have not mentioned intentionally hurting people because of looks (child or adult). I just said felt drawn (this happens mostly in the mind). I try not to let my actions be hurtful to others, but I can't guarantee it 100%.

I thought I was sharing my life experiences in a constructive way to point out my understandings and how we need to guard against instinctual biases.

I would think that most of us have certain thinking patterns that need to be changed. When I become aware, I try to self-introspect and correct, but this would take time and effort.

I hope you will not pick out another sentence from this reply and choose to dissect my worth as a human being.

I think I have said what I wanted to say here. Have a good life.

Yes, eandian I meant the magazine article you quoted. Sorry if it was not clear.

I did not in any way mean to compare your article to the OP's article!

I just wanted to show what the observation in the article was. I was not at all going into the ethics of the concept in the magazine article . Just wanted to point out the concept.

I completely agree! My logic was that only if we all are aware of the (instinctual?) bias we have, we can make corrections.

I am sorry if you were uncomfortable, I will try to be clear while mentioning posts in future.

Let me clarify to all that I never meant that not-so-beautiful people must be treated badly.

Political correctness was never a strong point eandian.

Every time, I read article from the OP, I felt that I couldn't follow 'what she was saying', which side of the fence she belong (narrow or broad minded)?

I must be the minority. Wow, so many understood!! :biggrin2: Must be a controversial issue. Damn, I missed responding to the 100th thread of this post (dancer beat me to it). #101 is good number too. The 'moi'** amount!

'moi' in Tamil, gifting amount! Say, if someone gives you Rs 100 as gift, you return the gift as Rs 101 at their function.

Beauty has always made a sharp point.
In my own eyes, I have seen it and sensed.

True was chankya to say that one among the most powerful thing in world is BEAUTY.

heart speaks.. why cant they all understand.. why is beauty given so so prominence... When we say they are married.. its something which brought them togather..
So they are made for each other...
its not love, its not arrange marriage...

They are made for each other.. in many ways.. beauty might not be only factor.

I meant, broad minded as more tolerant...accepting others without discriminating, regardless of their gender, age, race or colour, religion. :biggrin2:

I understand now that, OP is setting up for 'professional wrestling match', a gimmick!!

so that way one should also accept the person as she is without showing any false pity about her family or her students or any one related to her ?
