I will go :spin if i have to wet mop the floor twice a day:bonk I guess it has to be passion (bordering on mania:spin) to mop the whole house twice!!

I understand the bedspread and door mat part.... i too do bedspreads twice a week and door mats once.... but curtains.... noooo only once a month..... I feel lazy to bring down all the curtains and put them back again.... its a mammoth task for me because, the day i take them down is the day i have to clean the windows, that again is a huge task:bowdown

    Hi All,
When ever I touch a new post I sincerely feel happy that I'm member of this Forum. Here I'm again...:D. There are many like me who keep worrying about cleaning...:). Because I'm a super non cleaner :). My house is always a mess with tooo many clothes and toys. But slowly I'm getting it under control...
I used to have a servent maid who comes in the morning and a girl at home(24 hours) who helps my mother-in-Law to take care of my daughter. But no good happen to the shape of my house...Some time back the girl went to her native place and doesn't come back and the servent maid took looooong chutti. To my surprise at that time my house was looking neater then than when I had too many people to do it. Then I realised unless I've my plan of how to set my sweet home nothing will happen and I started having some checkpoints on the most messy areas. I started concentrating more there.
    I realised #############LESS IS GOOD###########
    1) I removed most of the old clothes and toys.
    2) I seperated my daughter's and my clothes as winter/summer wear and I had which ever is required only in the shelfs and rest on the attic neatly packed. When the season changes I use the other pack....
    3) How ever is the room if the blanket on the bed or Dewan is neatly spread automatically the room looks good. Try it I always start from there :). Quick fixes...;-)
    4) Same with kitchen less utensils and pack the remaining...
    5) Never stop asking your friends how they manage. Some way they are pracising might impress you and easy for you to practice..
My house is far better than what it used to be but not what like I dreamed to have.. But I'm sure I will be there one day...

We keep sharing the best practices :). Never know something will suit some one in te best way...

    Hi Narmada,

    Great tips :)

Though my house used to look like a sparkling clean museum with everything has a place and everything in its place kinda thing earlier, as soon as my kids came along and my ILs moved in, it looked more like what peartree had described "like a hurricane had been through the house" and no amount of mad cleaning seemed to work:bowdown it used to make me really crazy:rant

The few things that did help me get things into control are:
    1. Separate toy zone in the living room, when the kids were very young, and now a play room, so the toys stay in one room only.

    2. Getting the kids to at least deposit their toys in the room so that the living room is toy-free.

    3. Straighten the sofa and coffee table... (the same as yours dear:)) the living room immediately looks neat.

    4. Clear the sink and straighten the kitchen counter top as soon as cooking is done.

    5. Make the bed in the morning itself... otherwise it always looks messy.

My home too is not as it used to be ages ago, but it has come a long way to appear modest now:thumbsup

    Dear Rakhi
If she is a good friendly person I would have asked her so I could learn something from her...
If she is like the one who is more self centric taking credits for what she did and dint then I will just observe and try to make a plan andfollow it in few days will have my own plan with neat home... this is just my 2 cents

    Rakhi,

Do you know what is your neighbour's cooking style?

I always feel that ,we women are spending a lot of time in kitchen making a variety of dishes every day ,(three times a day, each time a different meal.).

That makes us exhausted and from where do we get the motivation to clean the mess.

    Rakhii,

With so many of us wanting to know how your neighbor maintains her house, it is now time for you to ask (confront :)) her.

I try to maintain a spotless kitchen and living room. But yes there are days when it is quite a struggle.
