thanks paulina for the tips. I had a tick collar and had given the tick drops protektor..before i left him in the kennel.. but nothing helped. Infact he had some tummy infection also...poor guy did not eat after coming home..and was on antibiotic course for 10 days.nw he is normal except the ticks.
giving bath to chotu is like a war preparation.. normally i get him bathed in the kennel..as dragging him to the bathroom is the most diff task ;-).we need lot of Armour .Also after bath.his hair sheds so much for few days ..

anyway got to do something ..poor guy he is itching so badly.

I have been reading all your posts and loving all your pets. Trichy used to be a small town where I was born and brought up and people who lived there at that time called our parent's house as a zoo. We had so many pets all over the place in that ancient, spacious house. There were a dozen cows with their babies in the backyard, several dogs that just didn't like sharing the affection and space, few uninvited cats waiting for the leftover food, a spotted deer called Rajamani in front of the house. Whenever he was let loose he used to run straight to the store room and put his head inside the toor dhal sack and finish few kgs of that before he was caught by the servants. We had a peacock and a peahen called Muruga and Valli and unfortunately Valli died and we took Muruga to Vralimalai temple where there were several peahens and left him there to find a new partner. There were several rabbits in all the possible colours and because of inbreeding we had multicoloured rabbits hopping in the huge 'thinnai' in the front of the house. Please wait! There's more to come.. We children used to go to Madras to bring back fantail pigeons and several tanks of different varieties of fish. The pigeons are let out of their cages every morning and when they returned in the evening they used to bring back new-found local friends from Malaikottai for a free boarding and lodging and while cleaning the fish tanks my brother used to clean out all the eggs and we always had a fight over this. We had few pet squirrels inside the house, a parrot who used abusive language and a lot of lovebirds too. The saddest part of all this is even if any one of our pets died our whole family mourned for days... I remember my father not coming out of his room after our pet squirrel died.. I/we have lost several of our pets and believe me, it's really very hard to accept it; It's a life-long hurt.. Thank God we are not allowed any pets in our penthouse here.. but the longing is still there to cuddle a puppy, to feed a calf, to hug a kitten...... I know you pet lovers will understand...

My lovely Danny used to howl, bark and cry when villagers used to catch hold of pigs to kill them for meat.
He was like a family member. We never taught him not to come for lunch and dinner. He himself used to never come and ask when we had lunch/dinner. But when we had snacks, Danny wanted a bite too.
We trained him not to enter kitchen. Bas...since then, even if i pull him with his collar to come into the kitchen,he would never come. Just stand outside the kitchen and wait.
He was very compassionate.I miss having a dog and would love to have one again.ANother dog would have different characteristics...Maybe I will never get someone like Danny..

    hi monifa

it was so wonderful to read your childhood experience..growing up with so many pets. lovely yaar.I am really feeling Jealous. I always wanted a rabbit, but my father used to say they breed like mad..so never had one.
peacocks and deer wonderful yaar. very unfortunate you cant own a pet now. may be u can adopt animals in zoos.. Mysore zoo and abngalore zoos have the option..like dravid cricketer has adopted to tiger cubs .they will have your name on the cage :)

    hi rose,
That was a very nice profile picture. I love the lion king series. eagely awaitng release of Ice age 4.
I know it is a very diff. feeling to loas a pet..you shd be happy that you have given a pet a nice home and love. and may be you shd give one more the same love and affection you had given to danny. As monifa says no 2 pets are same..each one of them like us hv their individuality.
hope you have a pet soon..and will join us in the forum to brag abt yours

    @ Monifa..
it was such a pleasure reading about your childhood zoo.. I always wanted a deer and Horse along with dogs.. turtles.. love birds.. frogs.. snakes..cheetahs.. tigers.. maybe elephants.. my dad used to always say that I belong to the zoo.. you have lived the most ideal childhood in my opinion..
pity your apartment doesn't allow pets.. so sad

    @ Rose..
its really nice to know about Danny.. he seems like such a well trained dog.. bet you must be missing him loads..
