    Dear Cheeniya,

That was a hilarious writeup....i can imagine the scene you have described -----:spin

I guess we women get all emotional and let all Hell loose ....porr cockroach....i wonder what curse from which munivar it has on its head that its species has been living so long putting up with th elikes of us Atilla or Phoolan or Mahishasura mardini!
But all said and done it did give a malicious sense of pleasure to kill a Cockroach in one Definite Stroke......brings in one a sense of victory...na .....but thank god i dont get to encounter this innocent deadly looking creature....ha ha
( just was reminded of my biology dissection class, where my professor, who was an ex militrary person had a deadlier looking moustache and would holler at us when we tried to lift the cockroach with foreceps for dissection...he wanted us to give the RESPECT that insect deserved..... on top of was my Iyer friend who would curse that we had to touch all these things by hand on A FRIDAY morning.....couln't help laughing when i thought of those golden cockroach filled days!) ha ha Big Laugh

    Dear Sudha
You have now raised a valid question about the possibility of some Rishi like Durvasa cursing the cockroach that its end would always be in the hands of a woman! Time I start rummaging through the scriptures and puranas if there was any such episode like that mentioned. Maybe it was mentioned as some Karappasuran or something like that!
But I never knew that these creatures also figured in zoology labs. I have no doubt that the girl students scored far higher than the boys in dissecting a cockroach. Are you saying that there are no cockroaches in Germany? Then what do you do to satisfy your murderous instinct?

Actually i am yet to face any insect....i guess it is too cold for humans, so how can a cockroach survive....also i hve heard that these people secure their drainage or whatever with insect repellents, so nothing comes in etc etc...

Well who do u think gets to be at the end of MURDEROUS RAGE......Rant......only he seems how to know how to duck and escape better than a Cockroach and i start all over again.....
And not to mention all the Cultural, aatma based threads and Lovable Valentine posts.....can there be any more murderous intent left at in me i wonder! :hideso a clean escape for my Cockroach and i just have to turn to Meditation maybe!

By the way it was zoologyclass in PUC....that is the 12th stad now....we have to go to pre university college in Bangalore ...thats where it happened and that ended my dreams of entering MBBS even if i could core good marks.....no dissection please( can u believe it i did see the heart beat of a frog also....yuck..well what to do all for the scores and marks!)

    Dear Sri,
I wonder, why you had to write
It was around <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:time Minute="0" Hour="0">midnight</st1:time>. No, no. This is not my Valentine musings. Far from it.
Please remember,if, you & I at 60 + start writing our Valentine Musings here, there will be no takers !
That is all for the youngsters, my dear old man !
They will think, ours will be old-fashioned!They know not that what is old must have been gold !

    Dear Sri
Yet again a topic with interesting and captivating Bow narration which makes it a pleasure to read and reply. And the feedbacks are as always value adding to the lead post interlaced as they are with humour. Initially i too was none the worse and used to jump and hop (read because not as heavy back then) at the sight of any crawling pavam creature. My father and fatherinlaw have been kind in responding the damsel and taking care (read killing) of said creature. but hubby being the practical person he is did not get it why someone would raise a hue and cry over a harmless and innocent creature. Maybe he thought the creature would be justified raising a cry at the sight of me is a subject for my blog ofcourse.. so necessity being the mother of invention i quickly learned to deal with it myself. Needless to say dh taught me a valuable lesson in not being afraid of fear in hiw own way. Now I can deal with all crawling wonders of the world and gardening as much as i do I have to get used to crawling worms and such.

    Cheeniya Sir,
My father is taking up that job in our house,in Chennai, of course, whatever comes to his hand.
My daughter is becoming fearless against this creature, when she is on a vacation to Chennai last summer.
My other daughter doesn't eat dates, because it resembles them.

About me...i don't want to kill them but still :spin when I spot them.

    Dear Sudha
I just can not imagine how life will be in an insect-free surrounding. I am sure to feel homesick. If there is no lizard watching me intently from the ceiling, I dont think I can sleep comfortably. I am quite familiar with the habits of all the household pests and can deal with them as appropriately as the situation demands.

I feel like calling your story as "How I listened to the heartbeats of a frog and gave up the idea of MBBS!" Just as fascinating as the fairy tale of the Princess and the Frog!

I am sorry to observe that my senile ramblings do not find a place in the list of things that were instrumental in weaning you away from murderous instinct!

    Dear Chithra
Are you implying that the feeling of love dries up as we grow older? My romantic musings are not intended for 'takers' as you call them. They are reserved strictly for myself and that's why I am one of the very few who did not write about his first love in IL!

    Dear AC
The one thought that struck me was that the absence of cockroaches in US might have contributed to your weight gain since you would have had no opportunity to hop and jump there!
I am deeply impressed with your DH's attitude towards the lesser beings. I thought I was the only one besides Ramalinga Adigalar to have such compassion for other lives. In fact, I rate the Jain sadhus as top class in this respect because of their intense compassion for lower forms of life.
Your assumption that the insects might be raising hue and cry over our presence may be true and vouchsafed by someone like Prof.Higgins who knew the language of every living thing of the planet!

    Dear Sri
You are fortunate that one daughter of yours is fearless about insects while the other wont even eat dates because it resembles a cockroach! It only shows that there will be no sibling rivalry between them. That would have happened if both are in the habit of going after the insects or both vie with each other to find a hiding place!
