@rakhii the cooking itself would have been stressful. Guess it the evil eye.

I also used to use hand sanitizer regularly till 6 months. After going to India, it became difficult with many people around. I just let it go.

    Dear Rakhi...
I dont know what scientific reason to explain it with but I have observed that after every function drishti remedy is done for babies and they do well too... why dont you try it.. This was how my sister did when baby dint take feeds she used to take the morsel in her hand and rotate around the babies head in anticlockwise direction thrice while making spitting action (not actual spitting just action) and then thrice clockwise action then she used to throw it out where some animal or crow eat... This used to work as miracle for next day baby used to have good appetite too.. From that day I learnt we cannot rubbish our elders traditions....

My sister started giving solids by 6 months and before that she EBF and she started with rice first and fior the babies rice she put just 1 pinch or less salt... with a bit of ghee and as days went she started giving dal +rice + ghee+ salt nicelt mashed ones later she used to add bits of veggies to the cooked dal by age of 8 months she used to give upma... she never used cerelac or nestum as she was afraid baby will get gas problem also during lactating days she was given the dink laddo which is said to increase milk production in lactating moms...

As far as I know carrot in its raw form is not easy to digest even for adults it is recommended to give them lightly boiled and i find this very helpful too when babies are teething this carrot will not be hard nor too soft just right... She used to give potaoes, green peas, carrots and slowly introduced greens the greens are introduced as part of cooked dal its good idea to start early (by 9 months) before babies get to taste sweets so that they acquire the taste for greens else it will become very difficult later...

    Hows LO now?

Hi vjbunny, thanks a lot for your suggestions. Actually after the function we did get the dishti done for dd. we did it with morsels like you said, with camphor lit on lemon and also camphor lit on coconut. I also believe in it. After every feed, I also take a quick dishti for; hoping even my eyes will not and should not affect her.

Thing was, my nephew who came for the function also was not well. Both the kids were playing with same toys and so...you know the rest. Dishti and all I tried :(

Thanks for the suggestions on feeding rice! After slowly introducing each veggie seperately, I also intend to mix them together with rice and give her. I might give her some sweet potato tomorrow; she is feeling better, so why not?

She is feeling better today, so much better compared to the last 2 weeks. I guess the antibiotics are working.
My doc told us to keep giving her the normal diet. She is keeping up...so proud of her. I cried far more than her through this illness process. Hehehe!!

@ramyapradeep By milk are you talking about BM/FM? Whole milk should not be given to babies under 1 unless advised by paed.

not necessary.I started whole milk infact aavin to my kid even before she was 1 but should be diluted. Was BF as well.Provided the kid should not have any problem due to the whole milk.If the kid is able to take it very well you can give.

Also you can boil carrot along with rice and dhal.Mix them well and give your baby.Anyways carrots goodness will be there for the baby in one way or the other. This you can do from 7th month on.I am telling you in advance :))

@ramyapradeep it is absolutely necessary for babies to be on BM/FM till 1 year of age. Only if paed advises then whole milk is fine. Not following norm is a personal choice.

The carrot+rice+dhal is a good combo.

Checked with my ped regarding milk. She mentioned I can start with diluted toned milk for my 9.5 month old DD if none of the family members have milk allergies.

Thanks Ramya. I have given carrots to my LO. Well, I just boiled them in water and used the same water while blending until I got the desired consistency.
