Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) suffer from a hormone imbalance which makes them ovulate infrequently and erratically but which also alters their metabolism so they put weight on very easily and find it difficult to diet.
Fertility is higher and pregnancy is healthier when a woman has a BMI (body mass index) between 20-25.
BMI is calculated by comparing the ratio of height and weight (BMI = weight in kg divided by height in meters squared).
The maximum ideal BMI is 25 kg/m2.

This is Fertility Fitness! Good Luck!
Tips for dieters
1.boredom is the enemy and always leads to ‘nibbling’. Take up a new hobby you will enjoy
2.social events do not have to involve food. Ask friends to join you for a country walk or to go ten-pin bowling rather than meet for a meal
3.start each meal with two glasses of water – it will fill you up and make you feel less hungry
4.keep a supply of handy ‘treats’ – carrot sticks, apples, satsumas, grapes – for when you are tempted
5.serve your food on a small plate – it makes you eat less and still feel satisfied
6.identify your ‘danger’ times (eg when you get in from work) and fill them with a new activity – embroidery, the internet, a bath
7.exercise is vital and helps convert fat into muscle. Take up a new sport that you (and your partner) enjoy
8.stick a graph of your progress on the fridge door
9.get friends to sponsor you a pound (£) for a pound (lb). Spend it all on a new outfit when you reach your target
10.maximum healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. It will take 2 months to lose 1 stone. Do not get disheartened and do not give up
11.special diet foods are extremely expensive, highly refined and such small portions
12.remember, you are losing weight to make you more fertile not just to make you less fat

Am Santha from Dubai.Im suffering from PCOS and its stopping me to get pregnent.. I was very down till last month.Now i picked up yoga for an hour in the morning and pop pilates workout in the evening for one hour.Stopped rice,coffee and sugar except having for a meal weekly once.I have added fruits ,boiled sprouts and chappati with a veg gravy.Having plenty of water.
Im not sure whether my diet is good.
Can u suggest me .It will be a great favour to my life..

Its very nice to see a dr. online & helping ladies with PCOS. I want to sincerely thank you from my heart on behalf of all IL's.

Even i have PCOS i am getting treated for the same. My Gynac told me to reduce 3 kgs & put me on OOsure and folic acid. The problem is i took oosure for 15 days i dint find any side effect but now if i take it my head started spining & even i get frequent headache. yesterday i fell down in kitchen, this happened twice in last 2 days.

please help me what to do......

i think you dint understand what dr. really mean to say. She want pcos patient to do some physical exercise instead of meeting for lunch or dinner.

hi jhansidevikanna!
I feel dr.jain is a nutritionist and expert so it would be better if she offers us some hands on advice based on her experiences!
BTW i did understand what she meant and thanks for clearing the doubt:rotfl
what i wanted to say was , we do read all these kinds of articles online also so if a doctor shares her own points it would be more helpful to all of us!
