Anyone working in QA in Agile methodology here. How is your experience? Is always a tight schedule in the work? Does it work for a fresher? Please somebody with this background share your experience. It'll be of great help.

    Thanks.

I worked on Agile methodology as a developer but in QA prespective I don't have much experience. Not to make you scared, but agile methodology needs lot of interactions with client and day to day updates since the delivery happends once in every one or two weeks.I think this job might be little hectic intialy after sometime you would have learnt how to manage. All the best.

I'm currently in a Scrum project as QE.

Tasks are taken keeping in mind the team size and complexity of the requirements.
Automation is used and less of manual testing. This helps in faster test execution and regression.

Once you are in you'll learn will be able to manage.

    Hi DST
I have about 4 years of experience in testing products developed via Agile Methodology.

I'm not sure how far you are aware of this methodology, so i m starting with a brief note from my exp:
    - agile development is iterative / incremental development.
    - features / functionalities to be developed within a specified period (termed as 'Sprint' - duration will be mostly a month) will be defined first by Business team along with the consultation with dev and QA teams.
    - Daily Scrum (stand-up) meetings will help track the status of the tasks in a sprint plan.
    - While the dev team work on design and development of the code, QA team will be preparing the test cases and also identify the test coverage required to test the features of the current sprint. Test coverage planned will then be reviewed and vetted by Business and Dev team.
    - dev teams might give the build for testing in incremental fashion, in such cases clear release notes are to be provided to the QA team. If not we will need to insist it.

    - These days most of the companies prefer agile development, since you would see a working model sooner compared to traditional life cycle models like Waterfall, linear, etc..

When it comes to QA, i would say its bit challenging in Agile methodology considering time factor, unless you have a streamlined development + QA process in place. Lots of interactions, clear email communication, status tracking, scope and out of scope definitions, release notes maintenance has to be done diligently.

    My answers in line
Is always a tight schedule in the work? - Hmm there will be tight schedule in any development model in general when the deadlines are nearing. In Agile, we usually have stringent schedule!

Does it work for a fresher? - My answer is Yes. As a fresher you will be in a state of learning things, and with all that enthu, i bet it would be interesting (my personal experience)

Are you guys using Versionone or Rally - My team used Rally. But what exactly that you are looking for?

Let me know if you need further inputs. Best wishes to you..
