dearest chitra mami how r u ? it's been a loooong time since I logged in to the forum to send a fb, but I have been visiting it at least once in three days.. As usual things got really crazy over the last few weeks. Had a ton of visitors.. My chittappa and chitti visited for a weekend . I made carrot rice, raitha, alu onion curry and then the next day busibela for lunch and sandwich with curry for their train journey. My chitti was all in praise for my organizational and planning skills. She couldnt believe that the rossagolla was not store bought. I happily took all the praise on ur behalf. Then my teacher Jayanthi and Kumaresh visited for a whole week. This time, I had a lot of stuff prepped up in the freezer. these are the things I made over the week 1. busibela (with the extra powder made earlier) 2. molagu kozhambu 3. beans paruppu usili 4. kandanthippili rasam (with preground mix) 5. mysore rasam 6. kadai vegetables for chappathi (store bought) 7. rasmalai (with rossagolla made earlier) 8. greens dhal 9. kovakkai curry, okra curry (as fillers in between) With all the prep, I was able to spend a lot of time with them (rather than in the kitchen). thanks for all the recipes and the tips. I am really enjoying hosting people these days. luvs shyamals.
Dear Chitra Madam... Hope you are in good health and high spirits I took a short vacation to god's own country for my sis wedding and my sonny's first birthday. Now back to the daily grind. Very less cooking blaming the jet-lag Actually after eating the food made by mom and MIL/SIL; I am finding it hard to live upto that standard. For every single meal; there will be minimum 2 main curries and three side-dishes. Not to mention the extravagant cooking that started from last two weeks prior to marriage. Here I barely manages to make a main dish and a side one. Made Rajastan Ram Kichdi the official survival food.. three days a week; during the jet-lag and unpacking days; RR kichdi made all of us filled and happy; without any fuss. Other than that it is tomato-pappu currry; potato roast; and curd rice; that religiously features at home... Thanks again to RR kichdi.. Nitha
Dear Chithra, I made ice cream again, this time I made chocolate, coffee and also kesar badam. This kesam badam, I added powder of the same flovour from Everest which I had bought some time before. All came out well and Aravindh is relishing them. I have prepared the butterscotch syrup, next batch will be that with praline. Now only sky is the limit. I made pav bhaji also, my fav, Now planning to prepare rajma again to make rajma tea rings and also samosa chole. Rajma biryani is also on the list.

Dear Chitra Mam, How are you..? Yesterday My co-sis asked me the recipe for pani puri..Yeah you are correct!!!So I promptly copied your recipe and brought it to her home..we two made the item with the help of the recipe..Oh the output was just awesome...Everyone at the home enjoyed the healthy-home made pani puri...So hereafter am going to make it regularly..My co sis was very happy as she tried this at the home for the first time and got it very tasty...All the credits go to your recipe only.... Thanks for sharing the recipe mam.....
Dear Chithra, Made samosa chole, rajma biryani and both were excellent. Ice cream over and next batch will be made soon. Also planning to try with gulkand, have some left. When making more than one floavour, it is better to divide and freeze the first time itself. The ice cream starts to melt in this heat otherwise. iPhone was in for service and it was like my right hand was inactive. Today AskChitvish has been reinstalled and I feel released.
Dear Mam, I had plans of writing this post on the 6th itself. But, we went for a trip and I couldn't. 5th being Inba's birthday, I celebrated it by cooking a lot. I invited a few friends. We were totally 15 and I could manage everything with ease and style(previous preps, parallel cleaning, presentation etc). I went for repeats because it was the first time I cooked 3 continuous meals for those many. Black forest cake Idli, ulundhu vadai, chutney, sambar and onion puli gotsu - I tried soft mysorepa and it was 'Roja friendly' Rice, sambar, lemon rasam, beans parupusili, potato roast, vadai, raitha(hung curds) and pal payasam Bisibelebath, vadam, red pulao, green pulao, chapathi and navaratna kurma There was this obvious question from the ladies. "Baby, yes, thats what we can call you. But, its all amazing. Truly magical. How?". I explained the journey of my culinary training under your prestigious guidance. Any woman, has to make a home, at the end of the day. You have made it a breeze for me. I am sure, with this interest I gained from your fourm, I will come out with flying colors when my duties are going to get double and triple folded in the future. It is a pleasure cooking for my family. Given my age and a sudden marriage, I would not have experienced it without you. You are part of my life. Inba told me sometime back, "Your dedication in cooking reflects in your attitude towards the family and you have become a perfect 'illatharasi' ". Thanks a million, Mam.
So nice to read your FB, Prana!! We always feel compelled to buy a few things always from shop. I am glad you realised home made is less costly & no compromise in taste :thumbsup Thanks
Thanks, Varloo. I alway divide the first lot into 2 btches & suitably add flavours etc. I wonder whether you tried son papdi ice cream - so crunchy!!
